Earth Rising

“Once a photograph of the Earth, taken from outside is available…a new idea as powerful as any other in history will be let loose.” -Sir Frederick Hoyle, 1948

One of the most beautiful photos I have ever

seen is a picture of the earth rising over the

horizon of the moon. It looks blue, warm and

safe, particularly juxtaposed against the bleak

surface of the moon in the foreground and the

black emptiness surrounding it.

According to my Globe this weekend, this little

planet we inhabit is meandering through the

galaxy at about 1,332,000 kilometers an hour.

It sure doesn’t feel like we’re going that fast.

I guess it’s a good thing that we have that

atmosphere surrounding us like we’re driving

through space in a convertible with the top up.

(Much as I love convertible, I for one am glad we have that top up – I can’t imagine what a mess my hair would be if it were being blown around at that speed.)

I’m just saying that we need to protect this little ball we are riding around on so that it stays warm, safe and blue. We need to recognize that we all share the same land and sea and air and ruining it for anyone ruins it for everyone. And finally that when someone cuts you off in traffic or jumps into line ahead of you or doesn’t do what you ask them to do, give yourself some perspective by remembering the little blue ball in the middle of the big black emptiness.

Re: Job market slump is a guy thing Re: Job market slump is a guy thing - Yes, it does complicate things when you get promoted and then manage your previous peers. Rising through the ranks can really "urk" the people who aren't rising with you, especially if they have more of a negative view. You can then be the subject of their frustration. The important thing is to realize this is about them and not about you. Otherwise, it can be really difficult as a leader.
Re: Are you having plans for Earth Day? Re: Are you having plans for Earth Day? - Hi Anelly Can't say that I have thought of doing any special for Earth Day but I do try to do something each and every day that will help to save the planet, even if it is only something small like using less plastic bags and saving paper for recycling etc. MichelleJ
Are you having plans for Earth Day? Are you having plans for Earth Day? - This year we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. Have you thought to a plan on how could you and your company contribute to saving the planet? Have you any ideas on how your business can "go green"?
reframe what you want to accomplish reframe what you want to accomplish - it is said that if you help other people to reach their goals, you too will reach yours. Find out what Oprah is trying to accomplish over the next few months and pitch a link to a topic. Recently she is really motivated by the Eckard Tolle, A New Earth and the awakening of the human spirit. i will check out your stuff. good luck

If you can't control what Oprah is looking for, then control what you produce.
