A quote attributed to Winston Churchill in “The Wicked Wit of Winston Churchill” compiled by Dominique Enright offers one of the best rules for Clear Writing - “Short words are best and the old words when short are best of all.”

When writing any type of business report, memo, or communication, it’s best to remember:

• Short and familiar words - limit jargon, technical terms and acronyms
• Short sentences – a good average to keep in mind is 15-18 words
• Short paragraphs – focus on the important idea with logical links between thoughts

[Suggestion] Human Resources Forum - Thoughts? - I just noticed about 5 minutes ago that there is no forum for Human Resources discussion. It may not be a large part of startups that are sole proprietorships, or even partnerships, as most groups starting up a company know each other, their respective roles, and the company really well. But as companies expand and become more successful, HR becomes an increasingly large contributing factor to a Small Business' success. Using PR Leads - Hi Shri - absolutely! When you sign up you create a profile and select a number of categories that you are interested in (up to 10 I believe). From there you will receive at least one email per day with topics that reporters are interested in finding experts / stories on that relate to your profile categories. 2 things to look out for: 1) Short deadlines - you have to check your email and respond quickly because many of the stories are on short deadlines. They can even be due the same day that they come out. 2) Be different - remember that many people are using this service so you really need to offer the reporter a unique angle and not just "contact me because I am an expert in this area" The cost is $99 / month and I've found it to be a useful service so far.
Re: Can you make a real living online? - If you count people like me who run two kinds of business online, then the answer is "Yes, you can!"
