Being a Bestselling Author has Ample Benefits

As with anything you do in your business, becoming a bestselling author is not an end in and of itself; it is simply a means to an end. It's not the bestseller status that is going to bring you more business and more money; it's what you do with the status that will make all of the difference. There are lots of benefits to being an author; more so when you are an online bestseller.

An author can sell their books back of the room when doing a speaking engagement. When you have several books to sell, you can bundle those books together and have the potential to make great money this way.

Myself and many of my colleagues have made hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars from selling books during a presentation.

Selling from the platform, just as launching a successful book campaign is something that you cannot do without putting thought into it. As with anything, the more you prepare for these types of opportunities, the more successful you will be.

You can host an event with the purchase of one of your books being the ticket into the event.

With my book, 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door, we presold nearly $10,000 worth of the book before it was published. The purchase of the book was a ticket into a three hour training by the authors. Buyers were able to pick up their book(s) at the door.

We also had the opportunity to introduce other products and services at the event which equated to thousands of dollars more in sales.

Another benefit of being an author (and a bestselling author at that) is when hired by a client to speak at a company event, conference or association meeting you can negotiate the client purchasing a book for everyone attending the event.

Even if a client doesn't have a budget to hire a speaker from a training budget they may have an educational budget they can use. By providing educational materials, which would be a book, they may be able to tap into that budget and hire you AND buy a book for everybody at the conference or in the company. In some cases you can generate more revenue this way than your speaking fee is.

In a downturn economy where budgets are really tight, you can offer to speak for free as long as you can sell from the platform. You would be amazed at how much money can be generated this way.

Here is a scenario, I get a phone call from a stranger who knows nothing about me. Without asking me for a permission, just because their FREE message is relevant to what I do, they assume they're doing me a favor by approaching me with their promotion.[/quote:ra8u6vda] Hi Takuya, While I understand your position, I think you're straying off topic from what Andy and I interpret as "giving value first" and asking for nothing in return. If you try to help a potential client by simply offering your related service or products for free, then that's self-serving because you're trying to make the sale. And no one likes cold callers. A good example of offering value first would be: -I want to connect with Business Author ABC. -The next step would be to find out how I could help (and NOT by trying to sell my product or service). -Let's say I learn that this author wants publicity for his/her new book, so I introduce Business Author ABC to an influential person in the book/publishing industry like Oprah and ask for nothing in return. -Then Business Author ABC would want to connect with me and want to learn what I do for a living. -And in the future, Business Author ABC would want to help me in the future if need be. It's as easy as that.

Its a great way for an outsider or a potential employee to find out more about the business, to learn their goals and what they offer. As a potential employee, this is an interesting way to see if its a company that you would like to be involved with. Shri
