Making Money With A Podcast - 10 Ways

In my role as host of Wonderful Web Women, I was fortunate enough to interview Heidi Nabert about podcasting and Web 2.0. This opened up huge possibilities for many of our listeners (including me).

Today I will share with you 10 ways Heidi has identified to make money from podcasting, as well as tell you what podcasting is.

What Is A Podcast?

If you have an MP3 player, such as an ipod, you can go to places like iTunes and download music to your iPod. You can also subscribe to a "feed" which means every time you open up your computer, iTunes will automatically download the latest audio in the series you have subscribed to. You can then listen to it on your MP3, computer or even burn to CD.

A podcast uses the same system (an RSS feed) and you can download interviews etc that you have created. In fact, people can download your podcast through iTunes. It's not just for music.

45, 100, 38

These are numbers to pay attention to.

45% of email doesn't get through

100% of podcasts get through

38% of people are auditory learners, so they like listening instead of reading

10 Ways To Make Money From Podcasts

1. Create an online presence. People get to know you, like you and trust you. Only then will they buy.

2. Establish expert status in your niche - people will place high value on what you sell.

3. Create a PowerPoint presentation to go with your audio. You can then post your audio to YouTube and drive heaps of traffic to your site.

4. Create an audio e-book from your podcast recordings.

5. Transcribe the audio to create ebooks, auto-responders and articles.

6. Advertisers and sponsors pay you to be placed in your podcast.

7. Credibility - people will then pay high prices for workshops you run.

7. Lead generation. The client is already pre-closed/sold. For example Heidi generates interested leads for her off-line business.

9. Early movers will win against web sites in the same niche.

10. Branded courses based on your podcasts.

All these ideas you can use and they don't even include paying to listen to your podcast!

Making Money in 2011 Making Money in 2011 - Hello forum members! As we draw closer to the new year I thought it would be appropriate to change the title of our forum category "Making Money in 2010" to "Making Money in 2011" - I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and wish everyone a prosperous New Year!

Please let me know if there are any troubles finding it.[/quote:2696kbgu] Nope, still don't see it. I see the Online Businesses forum but that has been there for a long time. Is that what you mean? I don't see any Internet Marketing section.
Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? QuickBooks vs. Microsoft Money vs....? - I have always used Microsoft Money to run my business - accounting, invoicing, etc. It came with my computer when I got it and integrated well with my online banking system so everything is a breeze. It only takes 30-60 minutes every quarter to do the bookkeeping (keep in mind that I have a very simple business - no inventory, very little invoicing, I do all my payments by credit card, etc). Is QuickBooks or Money the best accounting tool for small business owners? Or is there something even better?
Re: Need A Review Of My Internet Marketing Blog Re: Need A Review Of My Internet Marketing Blog - Hi Jay, I tend to agree with the others. You have obviously put a great deal of effort into your site which you can be proud of and the content is great but there is just too much of it. As soon as I landed on your home page I was immediately distracted by a pop up message followed by another banner at the bottom-not good. I want to see your site and what you have to offer. A lot of visitors will just exit out at this point when what you want them to do is stick around and ‘take action’ by signing up to one of your offers. Try to streamline your site into your banker offers and a few others and if you want to lead people away from your front page to specific niche offers all about perhaps ’surveys’ or ‘data entry’ then just include a side widget for something like ‘Other Ways To Make Money On The Interent’ and take them away to another page with different banners etc but not all on your front page as they will be totally confused by all the offers and leave. My site below is very new with limited content to very specific offers and over the coming months I will be developing it to cover other linked pages to other areas of interest for the visitors, best wishes, Mal.
