Building your opt-in mailing list is cheaper than in sending direct mails.

1. Free Newsletter. One of the most effective ways to build an opt-in list is to offer your online visitors freebies of value such as newsletter which will contain information that they can relate to such as tips, tools, recipes, travel itineraries and others.

2. Make it Easy to Subscribe. Provide easy steps for subscription so that subscribers may find it simple to do so and would not be too cumbersome. For more subscribers, tell them the exact benefits they can get out of the subscription….and if you use an autoresponder service just tell your readers “Send a blank email to: marketinghuddle@aweber.com (of course you’ll want to set up your own, but I wanted to show you what it would look like). When the autoresponder service gets that blank email it automatically adds them to your list!

3. Quality Content. Be sure that what is written inside the newsletter, freebies and information found in your website are all of value to increase visitors dropping by your website….make sure to speak to their need….and when all else fails, ask your list what they need to learn!!

4. Forums. Discussion boards and forums are all over the net. Try to actively participate in these boards especially those in the line of your interest or your business. Try to build your reputation with credibility….and just a note, do not ever solicit for your business until you have given sufficient value to the board!

5. Write articles. This makes you an instant expert in your chosen field of interest. You just have to play on it and use it well in your business goal.

6. Co-registration. A very effective way to build a monster list in a very short time.. This is contacting someone else who’s target is the same as yours, but they sell a different product and ask them to do a joint venture mailing to their list!

7. Write an e-book. An excellent freebie for those who visited and subscribe in your mailing list. The e-book does not have to be expensively made or elaborate but it can be a compilation or a collection of best articles, business tips and resources….and make sure to have all your website/blog/email contact information at the beginning and end so it can be a sales letter

In building opt-in mailing lists always keep in mind to offer something of value to your prospects. Remember opt-in lists are the foundations of most profitable internet business so do not miss chances for improvement and developing new strategies.

Re: Brag: 100 Confirmed email opt-ins Re: Brag: 100 Confirmed email opt-ins - Hi Evan, Thanks for "bragging" about this. I was interested to see that you had experimented with freebies that don't require people to opt in first. I had been thinking along those lines simply to try and get more people to download my stuff even if I get fewer people onto my list initially... @Trent - Thanks for the insight. So you have been making a living online without concentrating on building a list. How do you do for follow up sales, if I may ask? Building a profitable list is something I have yet to fully master. I now think I should build a series of highly focused lists, with a few preloaded mails (such as a short training course series) and a lot more up-to-the-minute broadcasts which will provide time-relevant as well as topic-relevant info. Of course, sending out broadcasts requires more work than simply pre-loading 200 PLR "newsletters", but I think it will prove more rewarding as far as relationship-building goes. Cheers, DH
Why people don't vote/post Why people don't vote/post - [quote:ilc3axhr]I'm curious why people don't vote. Anyone know the answer?? I'm really not trying to be difficult, but I am curious. [/quote:ilc3axhr] It seems they don't vote and they don't post. I used to have a few mailing lists - actors fan clubs - on one list I had over 300 members, on another list I had about 100... and nobody posted. Ever. I had a rare cassette tape of a certain actor - that no one could have ever heard but any fan would have loved to have heard (I thought) and I offered copies of it as a premium for anyone who would make 5 posts on the list. Just 5! And I didn't get post one. When it comes to that, you might think it's because people don't want their names skimmed off for a mailing list, but when it comes to voting in a poll...where it takes a single mouse button click.... I don't understand it either!
Re: How do you save your business from construction? Re: How do you save your business from construction? - The unfortunate thing is that most small business restaurants don't have a customer mailing list to inform them about specials/discounts or alternative entrances during construction. On the other hand, a large restaurant chain like Swiss Chalet is always providing their customers with incentives like a free slice of pie or side orders if you join their online mailing list. Aren't bricks and mortar small businesses supposed to buy some sort of insurance for the loss of business due to outside construction?
Direct Mail Postcards Direct Mail Postcards - Hi friends, The concept of advertisement and promotion is changing day by day. The concept of direct mail campaign is important for small business. It is important for three basic reasons: 1. Company growth or expansion 2. Strategy change 3. New product announcement. There are companies who offer many innovative products & services which can produce exceptional marketing results and which will stand out in your target audiences' mailboxes. These products include every imaginable size and shape letter, self-mailer, direct mail postcards and many types of specialty mailers. Targeted mailing lists is also a part of direct mail campaigns. THANKS
Re: Is Bulk Mailing useful for promotion Re: Is Bulk Mailing useful for promotion - Generally speaking, NO it's not. Of course, if you are building up your own true opt-in list of subscribers and you use an autoresponder to bulk mail them then it can be very useful. But simply blasting out emails in bulk to people who don't know who you are and haven't specifically given you permission to mail them (by optin in) is not useful at all.
