Meeting with people- Figure out how you might be able to work together

Three weeks ago, I started talking about an important part of your Marketing and Branding Strategy is to meet with people, usually one-on-one.

After you have established rapport and took turns talking about each other’s business, it is time to determine if you may be able to work together.

As you were taking turns, did the two of talk about the same target market? In other words, if you both work with people that are moving, you have a similar client universe!

What is the buying cycle for each of your businesses? The process people purchase and determine when you introduce each other to your clients. Would a client need to work with them first, then you? This is an important part of you emerging relationship. The concept of givers gain, if you give business to me, I’ll give business to you is a play here. However, in some case the referrals might bore “one-way” then the other. One relationship that comes to mind is that of the Realtor and Home Inspector. Usually the realtor is giving more referrals to the Home inspector, mainly because of the selling process.

How do you introduce each other? Maybe help write a “Script” for each other. This part leads into the last part of the meeting- Next steps.

Next week, I’ll finish up with- What are the next steps?

Re: Does it help to join business groups? Re: Does it help to join business groups? - I think so, yes, if you can join the right group, then it can be beneficial. Meeting other entrepreneurs in various fields and industries, some are long-time entrepreneurs, others have just started, each one can learn something from the other. Business groups are great platform to get support too, especially if you want to raise a particular question. Forums like these make it easier to get help and at the same time, contribute your own insights for others. It's a give and take thing:)

Re: Going Back to Work after After Having Kids Re: Going Back to Work after After Having Kids - Personally I don't have kids, but 2 years ago after recovering from my illness I decided I want to stay at home. I didn't work for a whole year, and then started my online business. I also missed the conversations, and it was hard getting used to the new routine, where everybody is working and can't get together. I had to go back to work after my husband broke his hand in 3 places and couldn't work. I am glad I did, I met new people, great people, i don't have as much time to my business as I want, but i learned to make things happen.
