Where do you look for answers?

In this day and age, the internet is a great place to look for answers for your burning questions. It has replaced old time ways of doing things. When was the last time you looked in the “phone book” for the number of your local (fill in the blank)? You go online. Actually, do you even go online anymore? With cable and DSL modems, you are online all the time.

Why am I bringing this up? On Friday, I had to present an “Education Moment” at Engaging Speakers. This is a tip or technique you can use when you do a presentation. I was at a loss, completely blanked. I could not think of anything to present. The attendees are all really good presenters in their own right and I actually learn great techniques from them each month!

I Googled “Presentation Techniques” and up came about 9 million hits, and the first 10 were VERY basic, things this audience already has down pat. Then I realized what I have been doing if I had questions about business… iLearning Global. I logged in, looked up “Presentation Techniques” and found some really good info, over and above the information found on google. This info was provided by outstanding presenters, a fact I know because I was able to watch them on the video player.

The internet has change the way we look for answers. Now, the way we use the internet is changing and improving. Are you using the internet the “old fashion” way?

Re: Are FAQs effective or useless? Re: Are FAQs effective or useless? - So then what's the best FAQ format? Should there be a search box or just a list of questions with short answers. Or are detailed answers better? The reason I ask is because not everyone (including myself) will be patient enough to read through an entire list of Q & A.
Re: Hello, I'm brand new Re: Hello, I'm brand new - Sounds like you are a very ambitious person with a great deal of energy. Just the right character for a true entreprenuer. Welcome to the forum. I hope you are able to find answers and to possibly help others find some answers as well!
Re: Suspicious/Problematic Users Re: Suspicious/Problematic Users - One good way to spot who the spammers are on a forum, even if their posts look legit, is to look at the information in their profile to the right of each post... Legit users will have it filled out with real information and you can usually tell they took at least a little time to do it. Spammers will typically have one word answers to each question, or no words at all. Sometimes they just have "fdjafk" or whatever gibberish as the answers. That is a dead give away to delete them.
Re: Website Ranking #1 in all Search Engines Re: Website Ranking #1 in all Search Engines - To get ranking on Yahoo and Bing you need to have correct Meta Tags as proper optimization is something Yahoo and Bing prefers. Apart from that try to create backward links from Yahoo answers, Wiki answers, Associated content, Flickr. Yahoo prefers these sites and even nofollow links.
Asking questions is key. Asking questions is key. - Hi Andrew, I think you need to know why they should buy your stuff - what's the real benefit to them, why is your stuff better than what they are already carrying on their shelves. Then you need to start out the call asking a lot of questions. Just remember this saying: Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care. If your questions are good enough your prospect could actually make the case for your product before they even know what it is. You might think of asking questions about what lines they carry, who their clients are, what are they buying, why do they think they are buying that type of stuff, is it a problem getting stock, what types of margins are they getting, etc. Then pitch your product according to the answers. Before calling I would create a long list of questions to have on hand so that you have an easy reference - listen to the answers and continue probing with related questions. That's all I can give you without knowing more about your products.
