2 Sure Signs of Gravity Ahead
I spend a lot of time thinking about my own Gravity these days. I
guess that's what happens when you publish a book on defying gravity.
I have to laugh at the amount of Gravity I find in my own personal and
professional life. It's amazing how integrated Gravity can be in our
lives!
I thought I'd share a couple of signals that alert me when I've found
some of my own Gravity. Whenever I catch myself saying either of these
excuses about something I'm experiencing or thinking about - I stop and
ask myself " Why do I believe this to be true? Why does this have to be this way?" Most of the time the answer is - Gravity!
So hear are my top two "excuses" that act as Gravity alerts:
1. Because I've always done it that way. Sometimes
I'll get the sense of urgency that something has to be done in a
specific way. Or I'll find that when a certain pattern gets disrupted
- I push to return to that pattern. That's usually a sure sign that
I'm in Gravity.
Want to hear a silly example? I rearranged my bathroom and
consequently changed the way my makeup was laid out. That meant I had
to change the way I reached for things, where I put things etc. It was
really disconcerting. I pushed against it so hard - because I had a
way I had always done it. It took me a week to get used to the new
pattern. What I realized is that I had a very motion-efficient method
for putting on makeup. I'd spent years perfecting that efficient
motion. Now it was changed - and I didn't like it.
Wow. Gravity even lives in my makeup drawer!
2. But I change and evolve myself all the time.
I'm always looking for ways to make things better - for my personal in
my professional life. Yet whenever I hear myself saying "But I already
looked at/changed that!" then I know I'm hanging onto something called
Gravity. As Shakespeare said, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."
My latest example was riding my horse. My trainer
and I are adjusting my legs for certain maneuvers. I've worked and
worked to get my legs in the right place - and we all agree the fact
that they're really long is adding to the problem. well last week I
caught myself using this excuse "I've changed as much as I can. My legs
are just too long." My trainer shook her head, grabbed
a couple of leather strings and tied my legs to the saddle and into
the proper position. Guess what? you guessed it, it worked. every
time I pulled on the strings I realized my legs were going out of
position, and I corrected them. Two days later, I was able to keep my
legs in that position without the strings. So much for my status quo
belief that my legs were too long.
It just goes to show you - Gravity lives everywhere.
We are Natural Born Gravity Machines - we create Gravity as part of
our daily experience. That means we have to defy gravity as part of our
daily experience too - if we want to grow beyond the excuses and into
the freedom of limitless thinking and being.

Re: Free elecrtricity generator
- Can anybody help me with any aspect of my invention?
In basic terms it is the energy of Gravity conserved and reused = (Auto engaging and disengaging shafts) = perpetual motion
Perpetual motion + static friction generated in a pipe = free static electricity
Free static electricity converted to usable electricity = Free usable electricity
Free usable electricity generated by the constant friction generated by an auto engaging and disengaging machine that conserves the energy of gravity in a overcrankable clock spring
The weight is easilly lifted back up the shaft with the aid of a double pully on ropes
Re: Who inspired you to start?
- Hi Evan,
I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet.
Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology.
I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business.

Kate White
1995
Foy years Kate White lived as a good girl - a rule follower, a people pleaser, a busy beaver - until she was passed over for the job of editor-in-chief of a magazine she had been running for months. She finally realized that being gutsy, not good, was the only way to succeed.
A gutsy girl :
1. Breaks the rules
2. Has one clear goal for the future
3. Does only what's essential
4. Doesn't worry whether people like her
5. Walks and talks like a winner
6. Asks for what she wants
7. Faces trouble head on
8. Trusts her instincts
9. Takes smart risks
This book has NO table of contents, but above are the chapter headings.
A good book, although I really wish they'd stop talking about "girls" and start talking about women.
Napoleon on Project Management
- Why do I include this in a list of books aimed at female entrepreneurs? Well...in the expectation that there are as many female history buffs as male ones, and in the belief that anyone interested in history will find this book fascinating, while those interested in project management will learn a thing or two.
I think this was the first "gimmick" book - an author using a historical figure (usually a male, military figure, it must be admitted) to talk about modern day business management. I refuse to read any of the kind that advocates - even obliquely - the techniques of the Sopranos or the Mossad - but these military ones are pretty fun.
Anyway:
Only in the understanding of history, Napoleon might say, do we gain an understanding of strategy in the present. In the same spirit, Napoleon on Project Management offers the recipe for successfully managing your commitments using the strategies, tactics and priorities that propelled Napoleon himself to victory. [The book doesn't gloss over how Napolean eventually fell in defeat, of course, and there's lessons to be learned there as well.

Books for Women Entrepreneurs
- There's a thread for good books in the Resources folder, but it doesn't target books for businesswomen particularly, so I figured I'd start such a thread here.
It doesn't matter how successful you are in your business - it's always possible to learn something new.
In subsequent posts I give Table of Contents and brief descriptions for various titles - most of them devoted to the businesswoman - and sometimes a review. If anyone else has read a review, or has read the book and found it useful, please comment!
