Lessons From My Wallet

I want to share a funny story today about my own Gravity. I find Gravity in my life so often I just have to giggle. Last week I headed to Atlanta for a speaking event and meetings. I went to San Jose on Sunday night to spend the night because I had a really early flight Monday morning. I reached the hotel only to realize I didn't have my wallet. That's when I remembered putting it in my jacket pocket when I bought horse food earlier that day. OOPS. So I drove back to Santa Cruz in the pouring rain. I reached in the pocket of my coat. My wallet wasn't there. What? Then I remembered - it had been raining really hard and I had on my drover coat - which had gone with me in the back seat of my truck to San Jose and back. Sigh, back I went to San Jose.

The next day in Denver I headed for one of my favorite stores during my layover. They had a skirt I really wanted - but not my size. However their sister store in Terminal A had my size. I had an hour plus left, so headed from B Terminal to A Terminal on the train. I was on the escalator when I heard a voice shout out "Miss, your wallet." I turned to see a nice gentleman holding my wallet, as the train doors closed and my wallet took a ride to the main Terminal. Without me. I won't bore you with the whole story but I did manage to get the wallet back and catch my plane to Atlanta.

The stories were great for laughs with my friends and my associates. But I knew there was a deeper message. The Universe was pointing out a piece of my own Personal Gravity - all about money.

I was raised by children of the Depression parents. I've worked hard to move beyond the constricted beliefs about money they were all of my childhood. But lately, as I am transitioning from full-time consulting to include speaking, writing and helping small businesses, I spend a lot of time focusing on my business model. How will the money flow?

I've sensed that I was limiting my potential, felt myself slipping back into those Gravity beliefs about not deserving to have everything I want - specifically in the case of money.

I know why my wallet tried to run away from home. The Universe was simply pointing out that my Dollar Gravity needed to be dealt with. This time for the last time. On the flight home I began to repeat my mantras, focusing on shifting into acceptance and allowing of limitless financial abundance. I felt better by the end of my flights, yet as I chatted with a girlfriend of mine as I was driving home from the airport late that night. I told her that I could still feel just a little bit of negativity surrounding the dollars, so I knew there was more to be done.

At 6 AM the next morning my phone rang. It was the parking shuttle bus driver. He was calling to let me know that he'd found my wallet in his shuttle bus that morning. I didn't even know it was missing.

"What is that all about?" you might ask. That's the Universe showing me that yes, I do I have more work to do. Doncha love it?

Napoleon on Project Management Napoleon on Project Management - Why do I include this in a list of books aimed at female entrepreneurs? Well...in the expectation that there are as many female history buffs as male ones, and in the belief that anyone interested in history will find this book fascinating, while those interested in project management will learn a thing or two. I think this was the first "gimmick" book - an author using a historical figure (usually a male, military figure, it must be admitted) to talk about modern day business management. I refuse to read any of the kind that advocates - even obliquely - the techniques of the Sopranos or the Mossad - but these military ones are pretty fun. Anyway: Only in the understanding of history, Napoleon might say, do we gain an understanding of strategy in the present. In the same spirit, Napoleon on Project Management offers the recipe for successfully managing your commitments using the strategies, tactics and priorities that propelled Napoleon himself to victory. Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - I wanted to share more on the topic of Blogging and creating your own original content that you enjoy writing about. Here's a real example. My wife started her own little Web site a few years ago. It's a very simple, home made Web site she built all on her own. She had sort of a hobby of going into Dollar stores, purchasing a few inexpensive items for a buck or two. Then she would create something completely new (usually home decor) out of what she bought (often with the same value of creating something that was worth up to $15 or $20) if you bought it in other stores, but only using material she bought at a dollar store. So on this little Web site, she starts writing about her creations and take pictures of them etc. A few years ago, someone from an AOL Money and Finance Blog (called Wallet Pop) invited her to Blog for AOL. Today, she write for both the US AOL Blog and the Canadian AOL Blog as well as she continues with her hobby and keeping up her own Web site. The other Bloggers at AOL have nick-named her, "The Dollar Store Diva" and she often writes about budget decorating. What amazes me is that with no SEO and just her original content, she attracts huge volumes of traffic. She has done radio shows in Toronto (and nearly went to the US to do breakfast television) and most people would be so amazed to see the traffic spike she gets from Blogging. But once again, she is just writing about the stuff she loves to write about. She is having fun with creativity and she now has a huge following of readers and subscribers.Others are decorating their homes with her ideas and their doing it with next to no budget. If someone is creating a Web site or a Blog, the best thing you can do is try something original on your own, but make it something that you love to write about.
Re: Rumor Has It! Re: Rumor Has It! - Thanks been there since the late 70's when the market was IBM and Victor. Road the Victor while IBM went though 286's and 386's. Do a lot of cannibalization to keep my Victors going A year ago lost my workstation's hard drive and more recently my operating system due to lightning strikes. Have bought a few computers and modems due to lightning. Take me about a week to recover a hard-drive Lessons learned: regularly backup your programs and data When I grow up I hope to get a what u call it "Power Interuptus Device"
Ebay actually drives prices up... Ebay actually drives prices up... - I have an acquaintance who collects rare books. He went off on a rant about Ebay in his blog a couple of weeks ago. It used to be he could buy books for quite reasonable sums, but ever since Ebay debuted, people are putting their stuff up their with inflated reserve bids, and the uninformed public are buying those books at ridiculous prices...so now even book collectors that don't deal on Ebay are also inflating their prices, because if people are too stupid to know what is proper market value... For myself, I fell victim once... not so much to a scam but to my own lack of knowledge of what I was buying... Way back in the 70s Forrest J. Ackerman published 8 issues of a magazine called Spaceman, and I wanted them all. I also thought they were very rare and was willing to pay any price to get them. So I bid $100 for a beat up old issue of Spacemen 1, and got it, and of course next week another issue was up there for $20. So I was not a happy camper. Lessons are - know the market value of what you want to buy and realize that there are other places besides Ebay where you can get it.
