Do you know when your next big idea will hit you?

If I knew when all the good ideas were going to spring into my mind I would have been a millionaire many years ago. The fact is, they come and go all the time, but only for a flash. If you don't remember them and write them down right away, they will be gone as fast as they come.

That is why I carry a pocket sized note book everywhere I go. This habit has been the number one reason for my success over the past few years. It doesn't matter where I am, if have an idea for a project, blog post, marketing tactic, or the next big idea or invention I write it down right away along with all the other thoughts that stem from it.

Having these ideas written out on paper means I will never forget them and I will be able to take action on them as soon as I get the chance. So many days in my past, I came up with some great ideas, but never followed through with them because I couldn't remember the full thought, or even forgot it completely.

Andrew Carnegie says this same habit was as much responsible for his success growing the world's greatest company The Carnegie Steel Company. Carnegie took the step a little further and wrote down every morning the 6 things he had to get accomplished for that day. He let no interruptions disturb him until he had completed the tasks. He found this exercise so effective that he had everyone in his company do the same and he saw his growth and productivity go through the roof.

In today's society it s more important than ever to have some kind of system to capture your thoughts and keep your days organized and productive. If it's not the constant emails, it's the cell phone or in this work from home time, the kids want to come in and visit and break your flow. Believe me, I struggled with this for years and couldn't figure out why I wasn't successful. The reason was, I was getting about 2 hours of actual work done in an eight hour work day trying to do it all from home with the constant distraction a home brings.

This is an all too familiar problem for a large percentage of the home based work force. Another 79 million people plan to start a new home based business in the next few years. They had better have a plan to get organized and use a method like the notebook to keep their ideas organized and their minds clear.

Email companies and cell phone companies now have organizers on the phone, but how many people actually use that feature? I tried that for a while, but it didn't work. It was more of a distraction because I kept on getting interupted with calls and wanting to check my messages.

Mark Joyner, the godfather of internet marketing has had much success with his Simpleology software, which is a free service and one which I have been using for years too, but most of my ideas come when I am away from the computer, so the old fashioned note book comes with me everywhere I go.

Try this exercise of carrying a notebook and write out the 6 things you need to get accomplished before anything else each day. (Checking emails is not one of them) When the innovative thoughts that come into your head each day arrive, write them down quickly before they leave again and carry on with your tasks knowing that your god ideas have been logged. Develop this as a habit by doing it for 3 weeks and see what a difference it make for your business. I would be shocked if you were not getting 2 to 3 times as much work done in a normal day. Some people have even said they have done the work in a day what would usually take them a week. A very simple idea, but if it was thought worthy enough of the richest man in the world, Andrew Carnegie, then it is worthy enough for us too.

Mediocre Idea Can Become Profitable Through Marketing Mediocre Idea Can Become Profitable Through Marketing - OK, here is an interesting question for everyone. What would then determine an idea to go bad? Was it a bad idea to begin with? Or Was it due to the lack of research before formulating of an idea? Or Was it perhaps... our lack of ability to turn the idea into a profitable venture (meaning, it's a good idea, but the business owner cannot turn profit)? There are bad ideas around the world that if someone else marketed it could have turned into a million dollar idea. Not necessarily a bad idea, but.... For example, Google is widely popular in North America, but in Japan, people dominantly use Yahoo. For whatever reason, providing exactly the same results, Yahoo is marketing something better than Google is doing in Japan. Not that an idea goes bad.... but it's more of who is doing what that ensures better success. So knowing clearly and concisely what we wanted to do before formulating an idea, and thinking about the hungry market first before a coming up with business idea will outperform majority of competitors because most business don't think about envisioning the end result and working backwards. Personally, I have seen way too many people in MLM world who blame every idea but themselves for their failure. But some succeed while others fail, dealing with the same prospect, same market, same product. I tell those people that an idea presented by companies is only the front end of the picture, but the knowledge, network, and skills each business owner brings to the table will really determine an idea to turn profitable or not. Do you have "Want to"? Do you have "Want to"? - With the good idea talk it got me thinking about myself and not sure if it resonates with others. When i think of a good idea there are so many ways of accomplishing it - the "how to" can become burdensome. Mostly the "how to" is easy fro me to accomplish but what's really missing for me is the "want to" most of the time I just don't have the drive or passion to follow through. It may be that i don't feel the idea will lead the type of life I'd like. This causes my "want to" desire to wane. This waning reaction slowly leads to me justifying why this idea wasn't good to begin with. It's be a real kick in the a** if someone did follow through with something similar and succeed. I have respect for people that take action on any idea.
How To Find An Engineer to transform idea into invention? How To Find An Engineer to transform idea into invention? - I was talking to a couple of female friends this morning, and we were discussing an item that should be invented for mothers with infants/toddlers in strollers. I don't want to go into too much detail.... The thing is, although we think we have a great idea that every mother would love to have, we don't have the technical know-how to build it. I hesitate to approach engineers out of the blue and give them the idea and ask if they can create it, because what's to stop them from just appropriating the idea? So my question is, anyone know of a group of engineers who help out idea-people, much as SCORE helps out small businesspeople, etc.
Web Idea Web Idea - Hello friends, Im new to this forum and Im here to advertise my idea which Ive been building upon for past few months. I have spoken to few and they exactly feel the same way I feel about it. and I feel it(idea) has the power to go the full distance provided executed in the right way. I m looking for partners who can hold-hand with me and carry the idea to the launching-pad. Feel free to contact me. Just a hint on the idea...it is about building a web-site where people can only earn money and never lose.... through 24/7 trading platform. Cheers Som
Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business - Hi Tanny that sounds like a brilliant idea, and if I remember correctly you already have a website that is about dogs, so your vehicle to market the product is already set up. In fact it would be a good idea to run a quick survey and see what kind of feed back you get. That way you can learn whether it would be worth taking the idea further. MichelleJ
