Working Online - - Endless Possibility

Start a typical brick-and-mortar enterprise, hire your staff, buy your supplies, pay the light bill, put a sign up for passersby, advertise in the local paper and media, get an ad in the Yellow Pages and start sending out direct mail materials. Start-up cost: $20,000 (before monthly overhead). Potential reach of marketing campaigns: a few thousand people. Time to return on your investment: minimum TWO YEARS. Now compare the typical internet startup. Build out a website or landing page, set up a marketing funnel, buy a domain name, utilize internet marketing strategies to generate leads. No inventory, no payroll, minimal overhead. Start-up cost: $20,000. Minimal monthly overhead. Potential reach of marketing campaigns: 1.5 BILLION people. Time to return on your investment: a few months.

That's the power of the internet. Very little startup cost, very little overhead, a little bit of strategy, and it's all gravy. See the reason this idea has been catching on?

Buy into a traditional franchise or brick-and-mortar startup and you are instantly married to your job. The idea of a vacation goes out the window. You're still commuting to work every day, but now you're waiting to see some kind of benefit from all that effort. Work online, though, and now you can work anywhere, anytime - from Boston to Bermuda to Bangladesh.

What sets net-preneurs apart from traditional business owners? Often it's simply a matter of vision. The online marketer is capable of seeing a wider picture of what is actually going on in the world of internet business. The playing field truly is leveled between the online entrepreneur and everyone else. Set up a traditional business and there is no such thing as a level playing field. You are immediately forced into hard-line competition mode.

Working online offers virtually unlimited growth potential, or potential that is limited only by imagination. Interestingly enough, the secrets of internet marketing are OUT THERE FOR THE TAKING. Top earners are willing to share the insight for what it takes to build out a complete business. I started with absolutely zero knowledge about internet marketing, coming from the typical corporate background. But after working through an outstanding mentoring program and utilizing the education tools available, it only took two months to be generating money-making results online. TWO MONTHS. This exact system is available to everyone out there to learn and duplicate.

I have to wonder what holds people back from doing this. Some see the value of a great opportunity like this instantly. They dive right in and start building successful online businesses. For others, skepticism holds them back from taking the next step. There's a definite difference between those with the true internet entrepreneurial spirit and those who 'window shop' online business ideas. One waits for something to happen, the other goes out and MAKES it happen. Had I been unwilling to take the risk and take that next step, I'd still be sitting in an office working in an environment that left me worn out and frustrated every single day. There's no way to describe what true freedom feels like.

Has it been easy? No. This has been work. Has it been worth it? I would never dream of going back.

As time goes on, my efforts become more and more about surrounding myself with people who have extraordinary attitudes. People who are proactive and willing to learn something new that has the potential to completely change their lives. I also want to talk to those who've already built successful businesses. If you're an entrepreneur at heart, then I see you as a kindred spirit and we have something to discuss. If I can do this, there is no reason that absolutely anyone else cannot duplicate the success I've enjoyed through an internet system that cannot be beat.

Michael Peregrine is a technology trainer for attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries who manages Legal Technology Academy, a company based in Kansas City, Missouri.

I started working in the legal field in 1992 for a legal department in New York City. After returning home to Kansas City in 1995, I worked as a legal assistant and paralegal in several firms, including two of the largest firms in the State of Missouri.

I have always been a bit of a geek, however, and tend to gravitate toward technology both in the workplace and in my spare time. Recognizing a communication disparity that tends to exist between many firms’ legal practice and their technology departments, I saw the need for individuals who were conversant in both.  This led me to transition into a job as a technology trainer for a large law firm in Missouri, where I helped develop curriculum, presentations and documentation for an education program presented to staff counsel, paralegals and legal secretaries.

I enjoy sharing what I know, and feel like the coaching process can be very rewarding. Not only do I get the satisfaction in demonstrating something I know will make my students’ jobs a lot easier, but I also get the gratification of seeing people put the knowledge to work.

Starting in 2010, development began on an online educational platform (http://www.my-legal-technology-trainer.com) just for attorneys, legal secretaries, paralegals and students who plan to work in the legal field. I feel like there is a need to provide additional instruction tools on the products people utilize the most in the real world.

Re: What is Your Favorite Thing About Owning A Business? - [quote="freddyb45":1t3lpfi8]For me it's the fact that all the time and effort you put in is worth a lot more, due to it making you "business" more profitable. Working for yourself is also a positive, although employing people you can trust is quite different.[/quote:1t3lpfi8] I like this idea. Working for yourself means you are investing in your own future, not someone else's, although there is value in working for someone else first to gain experience and confidence. Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]

Those are all just "internet marketing" as far as I am concerned. And I normally would have voted for internet marketing, however I chose social media marketing simply because there are more than enough IM forums out there already.
Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
