Google "Slap" and Wordpress "Whack"

The network marketing industry is getting it from all sides recently. Google is shutting down many accounts that are targeting "opportunity sites" and slapping the owner by shutting down their accounts. It now looks like WordPress is getting into the game and "Whacking" or shutting down sites that do the same. The Wordpress "Whack" puts the Network Marketing industry in the same category as the affiliate industry. Wordpress defines network marketing as the same as affiliate marketing:
"Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (”Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category."
Seems this trouble on the net is focused more on the "affiliate sites" more than the Network Marketing industry per se, but Google and Wordpress lump them both together. Very sad and
troubling for network marketers because these two business models are very different.
Ok so what do you do if you are in the Network Marketing or MLM business and you have a Wordpress Blog and don't want to get "Whacked?"
First, you will not have to worry if you are hosting your own blog as this only pertains to the free Wordpress accounts. Consider hosting your own site.
Second, if your posts and site is heavy with company promotion and not quality content you are setting yourself up for trouble.
Third, make sure you save all your content as Wordpress comes without warning.
and Fourth, I say speak up to Google and Wordpress. These companies need to exclude and change their definitions of the Network Marketing and MLM industries from their cureent definition.
Good luck!

Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? - Blogger is a good place to start blogging simply because it is so easy to set up a blog and go. However, Wordpress has a lot more to offer. I recently set up a membership site in about five minutes flat on a Wordpress blog on one of my websites. I haven't had time to develop it yet, but the point is, you can do that sort of thing on Wordpress but not on Blogger. That is just one example of the versatility of Wordpress.
Re: What are the ways to start a business with a small capital? Re: What are the ways to start a business with a small capital? - Great tips, everyone! I totally agree that blogging is the way to go. You can help brand yourself and be seen as an expert in your niche, and it's more personalized. GT, that's very possible. I can believe that their blog would get shut down over too many affiliate links. Does Wordpress specifically have terms about this, though? I have a self-hosted Wordpress blog, and since it's on your own server, you have complete control over it. There is no one to tell you what you can and can't do with it. A Wordpress-hosted blog, however, would be under Wordpress's terms of service. That would be interesting to know since I was considering starting a blog on Wordpress. Alan
how do I get started with Wordpress blog? how do I get started with Wordpress blog? - Hello All, It's time for me to get serious about a blog - which I have definitely been resisting. I've read some posts here in the forum that suggests Wordpress Blog is the best and it's interactive. I am currently set up on blogpspot.com but haven't been active for a long time, so it's not problem for me to switch. Where do I begin with Wordpress and after I make a blog post can anyone comment back? Can I monitor the comments? How is Wordpress different or better than blogspot.com? Thanks, Nancy
Re: how do I get started with Wordpress blog? Re: how do I get started with Wordpress blog? - I agree that anybody thinking about starting a Wordpress blog should buy a domain name and set up a hosting account. When choosing a hosting account, make sure it is one that is set up for Wordpress and includes an easy installation script such as "Simple Scripts". Two web hosts I'd particularly recommend for Wordpress are Bluehost and Hostgator.
Blogger Vs Wordpress? Blogger Vs Wordpress? - Hey all, I have around 12 or 13 blogs. Most of which I host on my own server so I can use Wordpress. Was wondering if anyone else had pros or cons on Blogger or Wordpress? I happen to really like Wordpress because of all the plugins and themes you can use. I happen to dislike Blogger because of the limited themes & layouts. Also it is a pain in the rear to do a split blog post, where you can have a small part of the article showing with a 'read more' link for the rest. I do like the fact that on Blogger my blogs get picked up quicker by google. Go figure, since they own Blogger it isn't surprising. Any positives or negatives on either one? .
