Two Web Copy Mistakes that Are Stopping You from Getting Clients Online

If your website is just sitting in cyber-space gathering dust and not doing its job (which is, of course, bringing you more clients), chances are that there are one (or more) factors at play. The good news is that there steps you can take to start getting better results from your professional website. But first, find out if your website is guilty of these fatal flaws:

Website disaster #1: Your website is essentially a digital brochure

I hate to break it to you, but if you’re advertising online with the same methods as you use offline (in brochures, fliers, etc.), you’re in for a world of hurt. Online marketing is a whole different ballgame from traditional offline techniques. When it comes to the web, people have astonishingly short attention spans. If potential clients can’t immediately see how your products and services relate to them and their needs, they’ll leave your website without a second thought. Unfortunately, if you don’t make the right changes to your website content, it’s never going to bring you significant results.

So, what are the right changes? Quite simply, your website has to engage potential clients and leave them feeling like you’re speaking directly to them not just about yourself. You really have to address their needs, and then you can share why your products and services are the solution they’re looking for. For instance, do your business coaching services help people improve their income while also giving clients more free time? If so, those would be great benefits to stress on your website's home page.

Website disaster #2: You have no clear call-to-action

Imagine this scenario: One of your website visitors is sitting at his computer, reading through your home page copy and getting all geared up to work with you. Then he reaches the end of the page and…nothing. Your content ends abruptly, leaving him feeling like he’s standing at the edge of a steep drop-off standing between him and the results you promise. He has no idea what to do from here. Does he contact you for more info? Does he just send a check in and wait for you to call him to get started?

Don’t leave him guessing, because the longer he wanders your site looking for answers, the more his enthusiasm fades. Pretty soon he gives up either out of uncertainty, frustration, or some other distraction that takes his focus away from your website, never to return. And if he does leave your website today with the intention of visiting again when he needs your services next week or in a month, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be able to find your site again when he’s ready to move forward. Which is why you want to do whatever you can to get that prospect into your pipeline so you can follow up and remind him that you’re there, ready to help him solve his problems.

A simple call-to-action is all it takes to get readers to take whatever steps you want them to take. A few call-to-action examples include:

· “Click here to schedule your free phone consultation today.” (Includes a link to contact page.)

· “Click here to set up a get-acquainted phone call to see if we can help you ________ (fill in the blank with whatever it is you do, such as ‘organize your office’ or ‘get more clients’.” (Also includes a link to contact page.)

· “Send a blank email to freereport@abccompany.com to snag your free copy of our special report.”

Whether you want website visitors to sign up for your newsletter list, call you, or take some other action, all you have to do is tell them exactly what their next step should be if they’re interested in working with you. You might be surprised at how much this simple change can improve your website’s conversion ratio!

Re: MyDogSpace - For Dog Lovers Re: MyDogSpace - For Dog Lovers - Thanks everyone, As some of you know I have 2 dogs. But this dog is something special, he is very good looking and people seem to respond to him, everybody loves him, even those who don't like dogs. And...he thinks he is human. He also won the cute avatar at mixx when they just started. My other dog, you can see her in my pic, is 90% black, smart and manipulative, and everybody is afraid of her. Stopping here, I can talk bout them all day.
Re: Who Did You Learn Most From and Why? Re: Who Did You Learn Most From and Why? - Hi Martin, You missed out on the most essential community that helps you grow - Your Clients. Well, I believe that my Initial Clients have been the ones who have given me the moments of 'aha' in my business. They have stood by me even when I was a starter and that has helped me shape and build my stand. They have helped me grow as an entrepreneur, learn to have loads of patience and make the most of what comes across. They have also helped me to strengthen me as a person. btw, personally speaking, my Grandfather always kept me on track and lent me emotional support when I was down in any matter - be it business or otherwise.
