Is Multilevel Network Marketing Dead?

Guest post by: Mary Thayer

Article Overview: As I do an in depth assessment of the current status of multilevel network marketing I see signs of life. But, I see that it has taken on a whole different look since the advent of the internet and the acceptance of it. As I recall from the very first network marketing company I was with, the hottest trend then, that was going to create millionaires, was the fax on demand. It made getting information out much easier.

Is Multilevel Network Marketing Dead?

With my past experiences as a registered nurse I am very familiar with the signs of death. (Keep reading this is not morbid all the way through:-) On the other hand I am equally aware of the signs of life. Breath, heart beat, warmth, color, and movement.

As I do an in depth assessment of the current status of multilevel network marketing I see signs of life. But, I see that it has taken on a whole different look since the advent of the internet and the acceptance of it. As I recall from the very first network marketing company I was with, the hottest trend then, that was going to create millionaires, was the fax on demand. It made getting information out much easier.

In those days belly to belly marketing was the way to go. Show the plan to anyone breathing was the key strategy being taught.

Did it work?

Yes it worked crazy good for many people.

Will it work today?

No.

Those “old- school” techniques of multilevel network marketing are near dead or dead in most cases. You might pause to argue or ask why? They are fading fast because of the internet. The internet has literally created a platform where information is available on demand. A click of a button is all it takes to find whatever your little heart desires.

What does that have to do with anything?

Well back in the day you would talk to your friends and family or your cold call leads and show them enough to get them to become customers or even business partners. In most cases they would be loyal customers to you for a nice period of time.

Fast forward to 2010.

Now you might find a customer or business mate. They get their first order and then they google the company’s name or products. Before you know it you are getting a phone call with a very upset person. Asking you if you knew this company had a law suit or that another product is supposed to be much better for less money. They go on and on. I am sure you know what I am talking about.

You plead with them to give it some time. Some will. Most will decide to move on to the so called better thing they found in their own search. Same example goes to your business builders. They go online and find a business that is better and they move on.

Just like that. Poof. All that work you did and now you must do it again and again. But now you must do it faster and faster to keep up with those dropping off the back end of your business. It takes time to build residual income in network marketing. You do not even get to reap the benefits because people are dropping out as fast or faster than they are coming in!

Now on to the good news.

The internet is full of life. It is a good thing. No, really it is a fabulous thing for you in your multilevel network marketing business. It is a big change but we all know that we grow when we embrace change.

The pulse of MLM leaders who have embraced the internet is bounding. The life of their business has taken on a form of its own. They are on the move in a way they never dreamed of. Leverage is working 24/7 for them. They are able to sift and sort out the tire-kickers and show the plan on auto pilot.

If you are in multilevel network marketing and you are looking for help getting plugged in online, stay tuned as I will be sharing 5 specific actions you should take today to get your business plugged in online. You will learn how you can capitalize on the new breath, warmth, heartbeat, and movement the internet has created in this industry.

It is an exciting time to be a business owner to say the least. If you want to see how the internet has taken the life of my business to the next level click on the resource box for more information.

Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? Why do people hate Network Marketing / MLM? - I've been looking at a number of different opportunities and end up meeting a lot of Network Marketing / Multi-Level Marketing people. Some of the offers look interesting but everyone I talk to about it says to avoid these guys like the plague - what's the deal? Why do people hate network marketers and MLM people so much? Is it not legit?
Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. Re: MLM Marketing, youtube, and buzzirk mobile. - I have experience with MLM too. My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.
Network Marketing Business Network Marketing Business - Hello all, Recently, I had join a Network Marketing Business on a part-time basis. Does anyone here who has some knowledge on this type of business? I want to learn as fast as I can from all the gurus here
10 best franchises to get involved 10 best franchises to get involved - My advice is: 1) Go to the library and start reading business books (accounting, finance, etc.) 2) Go to your local community college and enroll in night classes 3) Join the local Chamber of Commerce 4) Network / Network / Network -- through the above sources. Once you have spent two years doing the above, then look for a 55 - 60 year old business person that is looking to reduce their time in the business. Then you can work on a sweetheart financing option.
Re: answer this question Re: answer this question - This is a good topic. I haven't done anything, yet, to seriously damage my business. I did shift gear though. It was the best decision I ever made. For me, affiliate marketing was not working. Making the switch to Network Marketing made all the difference.
