Field Marketing can be a very useful and inexpensive method for gathering large quantities of leads from a specific geographic region. There are many types of field marketing, but none are more effective than guerrilla marketing at City Tours. CRM industry-leader, salesforce.com, has perfected this lead generation channel, while targeting cities where their product has not gained much traction. Use our Event Planning Checklist to organize and plan your campaign.

What are the Benefits of City Tours?

Meeting with prospects and current clients is great for building trust and lasting relationships. If possible, send down an expert speaker and record a ‘podcast’ to post on your website. Additionally, consider making attendance for prospects FREE to increase attendance rates.

· Increased Lead Generation –meeting with prospects and current clients is great for building trust and lasting relationships. If possible, send down an expert speaker and record a ‘podcast’ to post on your website. Additionally, consider making attendance for prospects FREE to increase attendance rates.

· Improved Employee Satisfaction– many younger Marketing & Sales professionals will be very excited to go on their first business trips to new cities. Use this excitement to promote enthusiastic product discussions while on the road, and to create a buzz around the office when the crew returns.

Action Plan:

1. Determine Feasibility- conduct some preliminary research to determine which events are currently going on in your industry that you may wish to sponsor, exhibit, or just attend. Key-note speaking engagements are of particular interest since they position your staff as industry-experts. Get a feel for costs for each type of event, and compare it to the cost of scheduling private city tours at hotels in the regions you are looking to target.

2. Create an Event Schedule– use Demand Metric’s downloadable Project Schedule template to help build the Business Case for your campaign.

3. Prepare an Event Checklist– use our Event Planning Checklist to ensure you stay organized for each event on your city tour schedule.

4. Build a City Tour Team– discuss the city tour program with your sales & marketing team to determine who has the social skills to network, and the personal-life freedom, to generate leads while on-the-road.

5. Attend your First Event– go to your first stop on the city and measure results using Demand Metric’s Tradeshow ROI Calculator and Lead Scoring Index.

Re: About: product production! Re: About: product production! - At the end of the day, having a patent, copyright or trademark are pretty much useless because if the person who infringes on your legal rights and has more money than you... they'll bleed you dry (i.e. outlast you by being able to pay legal costs) long before you can finish the lawsuit. For instance, let's say the City of Toronto copied my artwork. Do you really think I can file a lawsuit and win against the City of Toronto?? Not a chance. Lawyers will try to tell you differently, but that's only because they want your business.

Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 - Hi David, I've had a lot of success by building my own media list and then emailing out the reporters when I have a story. I've also used PR Leads (paid program) which got me into the New York Times and Forbes. I haven't done much with online press releases - from what I hear they can help you with your SEO but they don't get much mainstream media attention. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'd be happy to help!

Re: Feedback on a New Company Name Re: Feedback on a New Company Name - Hi Shri, In my honest opinion, I think your new business name is too long. Anything more than 3 words is already a tongue twister and difficult to remember. Why not just call it "Promo 101 Tours"? Another suggestion would be to brand the blog tour with your name. Besides, the word "Virtual" is useless since once you mention "Blog", it's already implied that the tour is conducted online.
