A Peek Into Some Productivity-Boosting Google Apps Features

We all know Google Apps as a robust cloud-based collaboration services suite that helps organizations in enhancing their efficiencies. It has established itself as an information architecture of choice. In fact, it has served as a lynchpin in changing the organizational mindsets towards the adoption of the Cloud and how it could be used to drive down the operational costs while maintaining the productivity-levels on the higher scale. Though you might already be aware of its features and functionalities, let me run you through some of its very useful tricks and features that will be instrumental in bolstering up your organizational productivity.

Google Forms

If you’re planning to have an organization-wide meeting and wishing to discuss the agenda with your key employees, then you must be musing over pelting a stack of emails on them. However, these email bombs could be avoided with the help of a handy Google Apps feature called ‘Forms’. This enables you to create surveys and questionnaire, which you can share with your entire team and ask them to suggest their inputs on any strategic matter.

Google Docs – Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

If you have some important text in the form of a image and you want to edit that, then the OCR feature of Google Docs could be useful to you. This converts the high resolution images containing text into a typewritten text that you can easily edit. Remember that the file-size for such a conversion shouldn’t exceed more than 10MB.

Google Apps Script

Google Apps also allows you to automate a slew of features, such as mail merging, sending emails, altering values in Google Spreadsheets, etc, with the help of Google Apps Script. Google offers a series of interactive tutorials on Scripts designed for basic, intermediate, and advanced users.

Google Drawings

Sales and marketing professionals keep working with presentations every now and then. And it’s a huge bonus for them if they could share these presentations with their co-workers to have real-time feedback and assistance on them. Google Drawings helps precisely with that. This magnificent Google Apps component has been designed keeping the need for presentation-sharing at the center. You can create interactive charts, diagrams, pictorial reports, and the likes with ease and precision.

Re: Making Money in 2010 - What's Next? Re: Making Money in 2010 - What's Next? - I hear a lot about Apps. I'm not even sure what they are, but I guess there's a lot of money in selling them because everyone is pushing them. Can anyone explain to me what they really are? Sorry for being so "out of the electronic loop".
Searchable famous entrepreneurs Searchable famous entrepreneurs - Hi Evan, I definitely like the new sort able "Famous Entrepreneurs" features, but you should also consider including a Famous Entrepreneur search feature. For instance, you could have a blank field so that people can simply type in the name of the entrepreneur they're looking for and then call up all the related articles/profiles on that person. I'm just not a huge fan of going to the "Features" page and pressing "Ctrl/F".
How Do You Check Google Ranking? How Do You Check Google Ranking? - Now that Google is so responsive to your own search history, how can you get a good idea of what your Google ranking really is for your web pages? Whenever I check my ranking for specific keywords on Google, my web pages appear on the front page, or suspiciously high. My way around this is to check Google ranking via other computer Internet links, i.e., whenever I'm working in a library I will use a library computer to check. I check Google ranking before logging into my Gmail or other Google-related accounts. Does anybody else have any other tips for discovering your Google ranking? Nowadays, I check Bing.com for my webpage ranking as it gives a much less favourable (and so, I guess, "truer") ranking for my webpages than Google does...
Categorizing the Famous Entrepreneur Profiles? Categorizing the Famous Entrepreneur Profiles? - By the way Evan, what do you think about my idea to categorize your list of Famous Entrepreneur Profiles by industry rather than by alphabetical order? For instance, if I was a small business owner looking to enter the food industry, I might want to look for inspiration from famous entrepreneurs in a related field (like profiles on Dave Thomas, Harland Sanders, Debbi Fields, etc...). It just seems a bit time consuming having to run down the long list of names you have on the "Features" page. Thanks
Re: Cool Video - How Google Updates it's Search Algorithm Re: Cool Video - How Google Updates it's Search Algorithm - Great Video Evan! As per the recent Google Algorithm update. Google also give more value to content and even shows rich snippet in Google SERP's.
