What Makes A Successful Person Successful? And Can You Be One of Them?

Have you ever considered what it is that makes successful people successful? Is there such a thing as a 'success gene'? Or are some folks just lucky?

Actually, if you've spent any time around successful and/or unsuccessful people you'll come to realise it's none of the above. The only differences between the two lies in how they think, how they perceive their world, how they respond to setbacks, how they see their own part in their lives.

Successful people:

* expect to be successful

* constantly seek to increase their knowledge and experience

* learn from their mistakes - yes, they do make them!

* believe that success is their right

* take responsibility for their choices

* know that their choices determine their actions

* accept the consequences of their actions

* take action every day to build upon what they have previously learned

On the other hand, unsuccessful people tend to just look for someone or something to blame when things don't work out as they had hoped. We live in a world where it is easier to blame someone else than accept that we are at fault.

Have you noticed that a lot of the sales pages for 'home business opportunities' tap into that very attitude? "Hey, don't worry Joe/Judy, it's not your fault you've never made any money before. It's the fault of the program you joined, your upline sponsor, your background, your childhood..."

By blaming others or blaming circumstances, we prevent ourselves from ever moving forward. We stop ourselves from learning the lessons that will help us be successful. By constantly looking for success outside of ourselves, we are never able to find the 'successful person' inside of us.

The first step to success is in accepting responsibility.

* every choice you make is YOUR choice

* every decision you take is YOUR decision

* every action you take is YOUR action

* every result comes as a result of YOUR actions

* your success is YOUR responsibility

If you can't or won't accept this responsibility you will not find success, in anything. Not in your life, not in your career, not in your relationships and certainly not in your business. Success is there for the taking - but you must take it.

You cannot wait for it to come knocking at your door. Ever heard the saying "All good things come to those who wait?" They don't. All good things come to those who go out and get them!

Look for where the good things are in life, then decide on how to get from where you are now, to where those good things are. Once you've decided on how to do it, then you need to take action to ensure you get there. Otherwise, you will stay exactly where you are now.

What have you done in the last 5 years to get to where you are now? Are you exactly where you want to be? If you keep doing those same things where do you think you'll be in another 5 years?

Successful people change, they adapt, they learn, they improve, they seek out new methods, new sources, they accept responsibility and they take actions to produce the best results for their choices! If you want to be successful, start acting like it. Nobody can make you or your business a success. Sure there are lots of folks who can help. They can tell you what to do, how to do it, where to do it, when to do it and even why you should do it. But you are the only person who can actually 'do the doing'.

Other people are starting up and running successful businesses. They are not genetically programmed to do so. They did not simply strike it lucky.

If they can do it, then so can you. So what's stopping you? I spun my wheels a long time before I realised I was the one holding me back. I know it seems easier to keep searching for the 'right' time, or the right business, or the 'right' business partner. But the truth is nothing is right until you make it that way. And once you understand the power of you, then every business opportunity is the right one.

Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business - An idea is only the beginning. The solution is the key here. I really like the term "turn key solution" and in fact use it as many times as I can in my life. Successful franchises and businesses know exactly what, who, how, where, when and why prior to ever dropping $1 in the bank account. This is what makes people millionaires. Harvest ideas into well oiled machines. A business needs to run itself and sustain itself. If you can show this on paper and show consistent growth in a real world scenario, you will always have a winner. Sounds easy, doesn't it? I'm still working on that myself. It's amazing how many difficult to answer questions come up. Persistence is then key.

But few are willing to expose the failures and setbacks that have lined their paths through the battle zones of business. Kay Hammer is that rare breed. With startling candor and penetrating intelligence, this "very modern, very American heroine (Forbes) gives a frank and full recounting of her mid-career reinvention, from a linguistics professor alone to the President, CEO, and co-founder of Evolutionary Technologies International... Hammer's new life began with an epiphany - that nothing substantive in her life would change unless she made it happen. There would be no Prince Charming. From that moment on, she began a long, ardous journey to carve for herself in the youthful, male-dominated software industry-a journey which she likens to serving the apprenticeship of a medieval warrior... Her strategies are geared for battles on all fronts: not only for disarming foes, gaining allies, and winning battles in the boardroom, but also for confronting the internal enemies of self-doubt, fear of failure, and unresolved anger.
