Fully Integrated Websites...

... The next step in the evolution of websites. Visitors expect more interaction than traditional 'brochure-ware' sites offer, and 'fully integrated sites' marry that with practical needs. To be relevant to your organization it could mean different things. For the most part it means integrating into your sales cycle, or the internal and external functions and needs of the organization. Integration used to be associated with huge websites and trigger 'cha-ching' in one's head, meaning higher costs. Today, an integrated website is within everyone's reach and can be managed internally with open-source systems.

WordPress and Drupal are content management systems with many open-source modules that can be adapted to your brand and needs without starting from scratch, e.g. shopping carts, content control, contact management, event registration, email centres, membership management, payment processing, forums, private areas and info, polls, etc. Soon you’ll even be able to connect directly into Quickbooks.

How does this effect your sales cycle? Polls are fun, but imagine converting a practical part of your process, like an intake form, online. Giving site visitors something to do keeps them there longer, or draws them back. Visitors are drawn further into your funnel and converted to prospects.

Being able to manage your content quickly and easily is a must to keep it fresh in the eyes of visitors and Google.

What about your organization? What if you could also use your website to centralize and manage specific tasks, like events and applications? Or, integrate the back-end to streamline business processes? The intake form example is simple and means less paperwork.

This type of site can be particularly important for associations and organizations that have public and private sections or need to reach multiple stakeholders. You can also grant varying degrees of access to your site and encourage more contributions and interactions from your various audiences.

Re: Revenue Streams for Websites Re: Revenue Streams for Websites - [quote="DarrenR":1t1a9pho]First of all forgive me because I am really a newbie when it comes to online businesses. I have been playing with the idea of creating my own website. Basically, I am looking to create a content based website with revenue generated through advertising. (The content is still somewhat undecided as I am debating between a couple of ideas). My question is; what specifically, are the different and best ways that a content based website can generate revenue? Thanks Darren[/quote:1t1a9pho] It is great that you are planning to join the bandwagon of Internet Websites. You have not given any information on what your content is going to be about. I can suggest a couple of ways to make money using the website but I feel that at the moment you should focus more on the content that your website is supposed to have rather than on how to make money. If the content is good and you can retain the interests of the visitors this will keep them coming back to you. Many websites die very early on the Internet as they have too many things on mind. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. It’s the same rule out here too. Focus on one thing at a time, build a brand and add value to the site. Money will roll in once you have sustained competition.
Re: How to Manage Your Emails Re: How to Manage Your Emails - Kevin - I have a lot of subfolders and I've been creating rules for new emails, using outlook. In a perfect world this could be done as the messages come in so 'future' messages will get routed right into their little folders - the thing is, you have to remember to scan those folders or you miss the incoming messages. Some of my Subfolders - Vendors Current Projects Estimates Past Clients Forums Friends and Family My Websites GT - [quote:3xmyx5l3]Hi, Russell: Sad to say, I am visually oriented ... which (for me) simply means "Out of sight, out of mind." (Hey. The wife has been saying that second part about me for years!) I haven't been able to take advantage of email filtering options - or, I haven't made the attempt to. My concern is that I will get lazy about checking all those filtered files and will miss something important. I like to see it in my inbox in the order they came in so I KNOW it's there and can deal with them one at a time. For me (being visual), it would be frustrating to have to check SEVERAL folders each time I look at my mail just to see if something new came into those folders. I want it front and center so I don't miss it.[/quote:3xmyx5l3] In this case you could track incoming emails if all previous msgs are opened - Then you scan n your subfolders for new 'unopened emails'. It works for me - though I get your point completely...
