What have the Olympics and the Internet got in common?

We've just had the biggest sporting event in world history take place in the city of London and everyone seems to be talking about it - even those not normally interested in sport. It's occured to me that the Olympics and the internet are 2 very good means of bringing people together. This articles looks at how.

Will a Professional website Designer Add Value to Your Site?

With so many DIY website templates available, why would you even think about paying money to a professional website designer? This article explains why you should.

How to Choose the Right Website Supplier for Your Business

A website should be significant investment and choosing the right website supplier can have a dramatic impact on whether the site performs as you want it to - and whether it stands the test of time. Choosing the right company to deal with should come down to much more than just price, but how do you know the key things to look at? Allan Kent offers some simple advice here

Why Thinking of Your Website as a Journey rather than just a Destination will lead to Better Website Results

Although getting people to your website is important, the key element in getting your website to work effectively for you is to ensure that the experience the website visitor has when they get there is a great one, meeting all their needs. But how do you manage the user experience (UE)? This article looks at how thinking of your website as a journey in itself and planning according to this idea can lead to better website results. The Yellow Brick Road from the famous Wizard of Oz has been used as the inspiration in this example.

Social Media Networking for Business - are you covering all the Angles?

Most business owners and marketing managers can see the value of social media in promoting a brand and engaging with customers and future customers. However, there's another side to social media that seems to get neglected that is equally as powerful as a sales tool, perhaps even more so than the traditioanl usage. This article explains more.

Should you Encourage Product and Service Reviews on your Website or Face book Pages?

More and more sites now offer the opportunity for customers to paste product/service reviews. Is this a wise thing for a business to do? This article examines the very strong case why it should.

What Can Gordon Ramsay Teach Us About Website Marketing?

Are you regularly contacted by experts offering to help drive more traffic to your website through search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising and banner placements? Effective online marketing certainly requires that people to find your site, but the area that often seems to be neglected is ensuring that the user experience is a great one once they are there. This article examines how Gordon Ramsay's approach to running restaurants can help with your website marketing.

Open Source or Commercial - which option should you choose for your CMS?

Managing your own website i.e. being able to edit content, add or delete images, create new pages is now something most of us take for granted. Being able to perform these tasks without having web coding skills requires a content management system or CMS, which most good website companies do now offer pretty much as standard. Obviously they all vary in quality, especially in terms of what they allow the end user to do, and how easy it is to manage, but beyond that, there is a huge debate regarding the issue of choosing a commercial or an open source derived system. This article hopes to shed some light on the issue. We have to be up front here - we build all our sites on the Contegro CMS so have a slightly biased opinion, though I've tried to be as fair as possible to both sides of the argument here. I'll let you judge!

"Crouch, touch, pause, engage!"

If you ever watch the game of rugby, you'll recognise those words immediately, but just how do they relate to successful online marketing? Well they don't directly, but they do sound similar to another set of words that do. Read here to find out more!

Over Coming Price Discounting!

If you are in sales, you will have come across the expression "Can you sharpen your pencil?" or something similar - meaning that they like what you have on offer but don't want to pay the asking price for it. Your customer is asking for price discounting, or price haggling. This analogy of the 3 legged stool has served me well in my sales career. If it makes sense to you, try it for yourself. It certainly presents an extremely visual image.
