3 Ways to Organize a Charity Campaign with Promotional Fundraising

Charitable donations are nothing new, especially ones made on the behalf of businesses and corporations, but their popularity has not diminished. Why are charity campaigns consistently successful and how do they benefit both parties? When executed correctly, charity promotions rally people to a cause and provide funding all while giving exposure to the company responsible for the efforts. Promotional fundraising is only one of the resources you could use to raise money for a nonprofit organization, but it tends to receive an overwhelmingly positive response from recipients. Consult these 3 strategies if you’re interested in spreading goodwill with the help of charity promotional products!

Host or Sponsor a Charity Benefit:

Charity fundraising is often done at formal events through the generous sponsorship of individuals, businesses, and organizations. Silent auctions, planned entertainment, and elegant dinners are massive draws for charitable promotions, but you may choose to raise money with your own creative ideas. Carefully select your guests’ promotional gifts according to the mood of the charity event; choose high-value items like wine glass sets or watches for expensive dinner fundraisers and go with playful favors like toys or custom bobble heads for more casual events. Before you purchase your charity promotional items or book any venues for your fundraiser, consult with a representative of your desired charity or nonprofit organization and inform him of your intentions so you can iron out any kinks and ensure that your promotion runs smoothly. Remember that a disorganized promotion could fail and bring negative publicity to both your company and to the charitable organization.

Donate Products and Services to Non-Profit Organizations:

If your company offers products or services that a particular charity might find valuable, then donate them in exchange for advertising exposure. For example, a gym could give away a specified number of memberships or offer free classes to a sports charity that helps less-fortunate kids develop in athletics. Promotional products can also be directly donated to charities for fundraising campaigns. To start, purchase practical items printed with your business logo (as well as with the charity’s logo) and give them to the charity so they can be mailed along with fundraising letters. Prospective or past donors will feel a sense of obligation to give charitable donations in exchange for the special gifts. Your business will gain positive publicity when customers associate your brand with philanthropy, and the charity will benefit from the donations!

Participate in Community Events and Charity Drives:

Use pre-planned community events as a means to advertise while simultaneously giving something back to charity. Global corporations are more likely to see results from nationally-covered or media-centric events than with local happenings, just like small businesses tend to benefit more from community-based events and charity drives. Seek out the existing fundraisers that are either near your headquarters or directly related to your industry and make a point to promote yourself there. If residents of your hometown gather every year for a charity fun run, then offer to sponsor them by purchasing team t-shirts for the participants (be sure to have your logo printed on them in addition to the event information). If local schools hold bi-annual bake sales to raise money for new books or supplies, then help by donating popcorn tins or gift baskets stuffed with sweets. Your logo will get exposure while it is front-and-center on the promotional products and the cause will benefit from your generosity. Keep in mind that the market is saturated with advertisements and commercials during certain seasons, especially during the Christmas season when goodwill surges, so you’ll have to pump up your efforts during holiday events and promotions if you want your brand to get noticed.

Regardless of how you go about your charity fundraising, be sure to choose practical promotional items that tie-in with that organization’s specific mission statement. Practical gifts tend to work best when fundraising for charity because they have potential for repeat use. Charitable causes may not see much benefit from promotional products that donors find irrelevant or useless, and a counterproductive message could damage credibility. Tailor your promotional marketing efforts to each audience and you’ll find success in your charity fundraisers!

Re: Ideas For Business Re: Ideas For Business - Hi, I'm Lucy's partner for this project and I think I came up with an idea of how to attract people. Sure selling is one thing, but heres something that definitely attracts people and thats charity! Everywhere you look today, even in the subway their selling pizzas that cost much higher then what you could buy at the store, but mostly people buy them because they know their money would go to charity and that makes them feel good and makes them think that they have just made a difference. I still have not figured out the percentage but if we donate like 25% of the money earned to charity for example, more people would buy. Charity is used in business to help people out but as well as attract more customers to their business. I know this might sound like a stupid idea but hey you can never know for sure until you try your ideas. Thats what business is all about.
