Ads are appearing on almost every website that one visits, even the largest and most important. They appear everywhere there is space; top, bottom or sides. The "why" is easy to answer as these ads, which are called banner advertising, can be very profitable to the website owner or "developer".

Companies in the advertising business pay web developers well to include their ads on their websites. Developers like these type of ads as they attract more visitors rather than just having the respective website content as the draw. If keeping up your web domain is expensive and you are having a hard time, banner advertising will help you earn money to offset costs and even make a decent profit.

For you to get paid a visitor doesn't always have to click on the banner advertising. However, if they do click through to the advertiser you may get paid more. It is generally sufficient for you to include the advertiser's widget on your site for a contracted period of time.

It will be important that if you advertise something on your website to make sure that the product is something which you may actually buy and/or have some satisfactory experience with. Visitors to your site will naturally assume that you are a supporter of a product so that, should they have a problem with product, they may not come to your site again and may tell others about their experience. The resultant reduction in traffic could be deleterious to the viability of your site.

One very important caution is not fill every page of your site with advertisements as people generally will skip over too many ads on one page. If you have a lot of advertisements to post on your site, spread them over different pages. Try to make the ads which you take compatible with the look of your site. This is not always possible as advertisers have their own requirements but, if they do allow this, create your own banner advertising so that it is suited to your website layout.

Banner advertising can help you augment the income from your site if you are not satisfied with what you're currently earning. All one has to do is put such advertisements on your site and the income should roll in. Just one more way to cash in on your website!
