Social Marketing Online

The discipline that is Social marketing deals with the systematic application of marketing concepts and techniques. Its main goal is achieving behavioral aspirations for the social good. It is applied to generally promote, merit goods and create a society to avoid demerits on the goods. Social marketing also occurs offline. Examples of this being non-smoking signs in public places and speed limit signs which should indicate to people that it is in the public good not to exceed the indicated limits.

Social marketing is also extremely prevalent on the internet. In fact many marketing schemes have all been developed online like Social Media Optimization (SMO). The Social Media Optimization is just one of the outstanding cultural features derived from the discipline of social marketing.

Social Media Optimization (SMO) in concept is all about effecting changes to sites in order to facilitate linkage from other sites. In social media searches, this is highly visible on custom search engines like the Technorati, and the frequently included items on blogs, vlogs and podcasts.

Social Media Optimization tactics are capable of driving huge amounts of visiting people to a specific website. The basic concepts of social marketing are applied as it engages into driving traffic to an intended website via new channels. Thus Social Media Optimization (SMO) is the very reason why today search engines are no longer considered the only sites that are capable of driving big traffic.

However, the SMO is not taking over the SEO as yet. As social marketing begins to really take off and when it nears its peek this could become a real possibility!

Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks
Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - Hi, Online Marketing would be a great title, and having sub categories would make it even better, there would plenty of categories to choose from, Social Media, SEO, Article Marketing and yes even Affiliate Marketing to name just a few, great looking site btw Jeff, take care, Carol

Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f Re: Should Evan add a "Social Media Marketing" category to the f - [quote="BuzzAroundBooks":p78047w2]Just as an update, Evan has extended the poll's expiration date and says he'd like to see at least 25 "yes" votes before implementing the new category. Moreover, it would probably be called "Online Marketing" instead of Social Media Marketing".[/quote:p78047w2] Okay - I have a request -- can the title be changed to "Online Marketing"? The reason I'm asking is because people may not know what social media marketing is , while that would make me vote for it to learn more, but not every thinks like that. Also, online marketing could capture more attention when people spot in on the list. Shri
