The Value Of Finding The Right Niche Market For Your Website

Wow, you now have your own website, immediately your mind is racing as to what to put into it and you can't wait to make your website stand out by improving the graphics. You suddenly realize that you are unsure as to whom and how many people will visit your website? The process of finding a niche market for your website is probably the one critical factor that will determine whether your website will succeed or disappear into the obscurity of cyber-space.

Why is it important that"finding a niche market" is vital to your website's being? Simply put - the World Wide Web consists of millions of websites, and thousands are being added daily. Many of those websites have a steady stream of visitors; these are people who have added those website addresses to their browser Favorites List. If they have already established a list of frequently visited websites why should they even bother to think about your site? Completing the process of "finding a niche market" will, in all likelihood, mean that you will not be in competition with established sites, provided that you make the right choice and you're offering to your target market is a unique and/or newer than other websites.

There are many tools available to you on the internet for "finding a niche market" for your website. For example, Google provides you the ability to discover your website's reliable keywords for search engine optimization, which must have sufficient traffic. Those tools can also let you know the level of competition your keywords will face. It will be important to keep the competitive level low as, even if your keywords indicate high traffic and are indicated to be unique, heavy competition could negate their effectiveness.

Once you have determined the kind of market you can attract exclusively, with little or no competition, the harder work lies ahead - the actual building of your website, promoting it, and monetizing the website. The more effective you have been in "finding a niche market" for your website, chances are, the bigger your monetary rewards will be.

Re: what position to request? Re: what position to request? - Hi Michael, Great suggestion from David, or you could try something around a design consultancy, How about Website Design Consultant, Design and Development Manager, Website Support and Development Manager or maybe Internet Business Development Consultant. Ultimately whatever you are comfortable with and good luck for the future, Mal.
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - ignore this message IF it's already been stated. I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
