Saving birds using ether?!

Article Overview: The fly paper that is so ugly, that you used to look at (with horror and 'yuky') in your grannies kitchen, that you eventually buy because here in the countryside EVERYONE has one or 2.3.4... in theirs and really the flies are a nusence! Di you ever see Hitchcock's 'bird's' film? gulp

Saving birds using ether?!

Today is the 7th of the month ususally something happeneds on these days or I think they do any hows! Comming home from having taken Zelie to school I realised I had left the font door wide open - oops, but the only thing that came in was a blue-tit. I am not too cool with bird as at a very young age when I saw "Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock I was kind of freaked out and since then the only birds I saw were the deas birds my father would bring back from shooting days.....So we shall just look the other way shall we and block this sight from my minds eye.

So today the birds were stuck in one of the children's room - ducking down telling the bird ‘Alright not to worry I'm just opening the window, then you can fly out of it, eh?' yes ok I was reasuring myself more than the bird but it worked and out it flew...

Then more bird sounds from the kitchen - will I ever get this article out (the other one!*) but this one was stuck on the ‘fly tape'. This ‘fly-tape' is for catching flies and moths that hangs from the ceilings - I know they are the most atrocious looking things and I always said there would never be any in my house, it was "too gross"... But when push comes to shove then these are better than the ‘swarms' of flies in the house!

So this bird is flapping away, tweet tweeting scared, and very stuck - glued to this paper hanging over the kitchen table...Tieri was working about 10km away so I called him in panik ‘I've already dealt with birds this morning...!' ‘But Catherine darling I'm at Castetes today!' which is 50km away...Panic on board ‘No problem just take a glove and you can do it!' (I love that man).

So kitchen glove on and yes the tape is in my hands with the flapping bird and we rush outside and I gently lay them on the table. Ok to scrape the bird off the tape - big garden scissors run, run, run... then the poor bird was like a ball of glue on the wooden table with it's beak wide open.

This is beyond me I'll call the vets! On the phone the medical secretary is telling me to put ether on the bird to free it's wings and body from the glue!!! ‘But it's a tiny blue bird - will I not kill it with the ether fumes?' ... So I managed to get a big piece of cotton wool and put it over the bird's face to hold it down and so it would not breath the fumes, all the while talking to it and explaining what we were doing here to free it. As soon as it could it got away, more than once I had to chase after it (a step or two) so as to finish taking off the glue inbetween each feather so it could at least half-fly!!!

It finally did crawl away and I let it but every now and then I check it's ‘hiding' refuge and check on it.

I am feeding again full of gratitude to have been able to save this poor bird that was in that place of fighting to get it"s feathers back because of me!

Re: How much is too much competition? - In Africa we have a saying that " the sky is too wide for birds to fly without colliding with one another." This is always when we talk of competition. Every business we have their own clients even if they are located on the same street.
Re: How To Pick Keywords To Rank For - You could try killing two birds with one stone by finding a top ranking key phrase and then search for a series of long-tail keyword phrases that include the top ranking key phrase in it.

You could also help charity organisations through contributions, it could also get you cost effective organised prublicity. So now, you use a stone to catch lots of birds.
Re: Social Media Effectively? - Probably the easiest piece of advice when it comes to leveraging one's time might be to 'tie' your twitter account in with your blog. . . most every Social Media site/tool can use an RSS feed in some way - I recommend folks hooking that to their twitter and facebook and linked in accounts. Its a fast and easy way to save yourself alot of time and kill several social media birds with one (blog) stone. Hehe.
