E-newsletters: why they're good for business

WHAT ARE E-NEWSLETTERS?
An e-newsletter is a written form of communication that is sent to people by e-mail rather than by more traditional methods like printing. You can use an e-newsletter to tell people about news happening within the industry, within your company or any useful information you think that they should know. E-newsletters can be very beneficial to a business for the following 5 reasons:

1. E-newsletters give your company a very low cost method of keeping in touch with key customers and suppliers. Whenever you send it out, people are reminded of your presence and can keep abreast of what is going on within the industry.

2. E-newsletters can establish you as the expert in your field. If you’re the one telling them about industry trends and expressing the company’s opinion on them, this is letting your customers and suppliers know that you have a solid reputation and can be counted on as the ‘expert’.

3. You can use e-newsletters to prompt potential customers to contact you. You can include vouchers, competitions or discounts within an e-newsletter, encouraging those that may have been thinking about using your services to give you a try.

4. E-newsletters allow you to quickly develop relationships with key suppliers and customers. You can for instance let them include articles within your e-newsletter which provides benefits to them (they promote their business) and benefits to you (you have material for the content of the newsletter). In addition, this also builds up trust and strengthens relationships between you.

5. Finally, e-newsletters are very inexpensive to produce and can quickly reap the benefits outlined above without the expense of printed material.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD E-NEWSLETTERS BE SENT OUT?
Many companies send out e-newsletters once a week, but this can often be an overload on time. To start off with, I would recommend that your newsletters should be sent out approximately once a month and that several should be prepared in advance so that you don’t have to think about the content.

HOW LONG SHOULD THEY BE?
At first the e-newsletter should be fairly short (1 or 2 pages) so that it is not a lot of work producing the content. The length can be increased as you invite customers and suppliers to submit content to your newsletter.

And I must find the good topic for my business. WHat can it be? I 'm lawyer and have enough knowledge about it. THen why not to start a blog giving legal advice to people? Or if you are weight loss expert, then weight loss i a good idea or niche for your online business. Also the monetization potential of the niche is important too. If there is good mon. potential and I have special knowledge about my niche then I can have advantage in the competition and it can be a good idea for my future business. Re: Search Engine Optimization Re: Search Engine Optimization - If a good SEO can hit your business then no doubt a bad SEO can be responsible to make your business flop. Is "Good" - Good Enough Is "Good" - Good Enough - I was just reading the thread about whether people need a business plan and this idea hit me. Someone commented that if you don't have a business plan and you're doing all right - then why spend the time or money. But, is doing good or doing all right - good enough? Maybe you're a business that is getting by and making the bills. What if, taking the time to really evaluate your business with a detailed business plan could help you see places to make some changes which could take your business to the next level? Would it be worth your time? I think it would definitely be worth the time. That could be because I've worked with a number of business owners who were "getting by", but once they committed to having someone evaluate the business - they saw a drastic increase in their revenue. So, why couldn't or wouldn't an entrepreneur do an evaluation to determine where the business is, where it isn't working and where it should be going? This could be done in a business plan format. Just some random thoughts. Shri
Business Plans Business Plans - Hey Brandon, I do agree that there is a link to a sound business plan and a successful business. When you think about it, one of the purposes of a business plan is to give the owners some direction. When you have a good "plan" to follow, odds are you won't end up in 100 different directions. And yes, I would love to look at some good and successfully complete business plans. -Kai

Personally, I love everything to do with tennis and spend a lot of time reading up on the subject whether it be about fitness, strategy, gear, player profiles, etc... but I'm not sure if there are any good ways to profit from my passion. What would you advise I do? For instance, I'm not skilled enough to teach tennis and there's already good tennis blogs on the net. Moreover, tennis shops typically fail because of the low prices set by online vendors in the US.
