Putting Your Books, Training Material And Transcripts On DVD
When eBay stopped selling ebooks on it’s site that caused
problems for a lot of entrepreneurs who used to sell their information and
articles as ebooks, easily downloaded from their web sites. There is a solution to getting your books,
training material and transcript out to your customers. Put them on a CD or DVD.
It sounds very complex doesn’t it and a little frightening –
but actually it is a lot easier than many people think to produce professional
DVD’s. Here’s how.
First of all find your material. If you have ebooks hanging
around fine. If not look for a niche
subject to write about. Have a look around the forums and this site and see
what questions people are asking. There are too many internet marketing etc
ebooks and DVD's around. You should be
aiming for about 20 – 45 pages for an ebook.
They take some time to write but once you have the knack of doing it –
they become much easier. You need to
save them in PDF format to protect your information from being easily copied.
If you have training material then the latest version of MsPowerPoint
has some wonderful features that allow you to save your training course in easy
to use formats. You can also add vocals.
If you use MsWord or similar for your course notes these should be in PDF
format as well. Some PDF programmes also
allow the reader to have the document read to them – a great asset you should
take advantage of.
If you have recorded interviews etc you should save them in
MP3 format so they are easy to use in MP3 players and on a computer.
You can also purchase or download software that allows you
to give an onscreen presentation on a subject.
This can also be saved in Flash format.
Remember to be professional in your presentation and make
sure that it has some good information in it.
People buying DVD’s or CD’s expect good quality and the information that
they were promised.
Now find yourself a good publisher for the item. Sticking on labels or writing on the DVD/CD
looks appalling. You should look at the Print On Demand Sites (POD) such as
Lulu and Kunaki to produce your DVD/CD – you will find it remarkably cheap to
do so. You also benefit from professionally printed labels and cases. You can then produce a leaflet or book to
accompany it if you wish. There are some
dispatching software packages that link your PayPal payment to Kunaki so that
you can make your fulfilment almost automatic.
Now promote it well.
Many POD companies will do this for you.
You can now sell your DVD/CD on eBay and you should also consider
becoming a merchant on Amazon for some of your products. Good luck.
