Viral Marketing – 5 Sure Fire Ways To Get The Best Kind of Virus To Have in the Winter
Viral marketing is the cheapest and fastest way to get your business understood and your business known. So how do you get started?
Email: As a simplest form you should always put your web site and contact details at the bottom of every email that you sign and send out to friends and family. Write a simple strap line such as “Billy’s Plumbing, for all your heating, kitchen and bathroom work in Yardborough, see our work on www.yourwebsite.com” and make sure you include it!
Forums: Next, enter a few forums that are relevant to your business and set up your profile. Add the strap line to your signature. Participate in the forum, answer a few questions and build up your credibility. For each post you make, your signature will appear. There is no need to do any heavy selling until you are an established and see the appropriate question. Remember the aim here is to get your name out on the internet.
Articles: Now find three good article sites. Set up a good profile for you and your company, remembering to include your web site details. Now design yourself a good recourse box. This is the 2 – 8 lines of information that you find at the end of each article you read on the internet. It should include some details about you and one or two web site links. It is usual to include a call to action- such as “Read about my book” but no outright selling. Now write 5 articles about your business. From 350 -600 words are fine. Make sure that they have a good catchy head line and that you put your resource box at the end. If you are good at writing, make sure that you put a few key words or key phrases in the article. The article should be informative – not selling. Now submit them to the directories. Make a note to write at least one more article each week and you have your name starting to build up. If you have written a good informative article that has a catchy headline, others will read it and click on your links; you will start getting them published elsewhere and start getting good links that will please the search engines. After a few weeks perform a search using your article heading and you will hopefully find it on other sites – or even in the search engines.
Blogs: For those of you who like writing – set up your own blog and update it regularly and post details of the updates to Blog Announcers. If you don’t feel that you can do this then start visiting other blogs and leaving constructive comments – remember to use your signature and strap line so that you spread your name once again.
Web 2.0: This is the posh word for all those community sites that you see scattered around the internet. Here are few ideas to help with your viral marketing:
• Open up a twitter account and plug as much into it as possible. Give it regular short updates.
• Set yourself up a MySpace account and put up your profile. Visit and join some of the groups – using your signature each time.
• Set up some Squidoo accounts using your profile and articles.
• Set up a Digg account and use it regularly.
• Sell something on eBay, Amazon Advantage and Craigslist – not strictly Web2.0 but in the same environment.
All of the above will get you and your business better known on the internet as well as garnering you some good links. If you keep up the viral marketing on a regular basis, you will be spreading your good name exponentially. Good Luck.
