What Can Britney Spears Teach You About Marketing?
What Can Britney Spears Teach You About Marketing?
Once your brand is established you can start to diversify yourself or your company and create what is called “multiple streams of income” or many different kinds of income from the one brand or source. Let’s start by looking at some such brands.
Here are some examples:
• Britney Spears or any other major singer makes money on CD's, concert sales, posters, books, movie appearances, TV appearances, videos, commercials and other endorsements.
• David Beckham makes money from sport, but much more from commercials, sponsorships, event appearances, soccer schools, fashion, watches, perfume etc. Many other sports people try to emanate him, but few meet the sheer breadth of his money making opportunities. In fact he and Victoria often refer to Brand Beckham.
• Paul Newman made money on starring or directing movies, and makes money for charity on salad dressing, sauces, cook books, T-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts etc.
• Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield -The "Chicken Soup For The (fill in a lucrative niche market here) Soul" authors make money on a series of books and tapes. There are over 35 titles and 53 million copies in print in over 32 languages. They have expanded slightly differently by selling only tapes and books but with different titles and niches!
Don’t even get me started on the Mister Men books.
You don't have to be a celebrity or an acclaimed author to cash in, but we can definitely learn from them. Well the good news is that the internet now makes this much easier.
Look at your core products and investigate how you can spread your skills, experience, products and services in a logical manner. Start by making yourself an expert on a niche subject. Look at writing articles, books, ebooks etc. Join in at the relevant forums and spread the word!
Don’t put limits on yourself. As your success builds over time continue to set yourself new and bigger goals. Imagine what you could do and what products you could sell if you were already famous. What would you sell? How could you expand you own little empire? You don’t have to be world famous – just famous in your own niche. Look up The Biz Guru if you don’t believe me.
You are a brand and so is your company. Be aware of the brand you are building make the best efforts to spread it!
