What’s A Unique Selling Point And Why Should I Have One?
You’ve
heard about a Unique Selling Point and guess that you want one but you have no
idea what it is and why you need one. Often called the U.S.P – it means – “What
makes your company, product and services different from all the other companies
selling the same thing?
Now
obviously in a crowded business environment – be it click or brick – you want
your company to not only stand out but be memorable. You USP will do this for
you.
So how do I define my
USP?
Have a look at you company and a few companies that you
believe compete with you. Also look at a
couple of companies who are trading as you would wish to trade in the next few
years. For products we mean products,
goods or services.
So, what product features could you have that would make you
different from your competitors?
-
Look at what products you sell the most often or
most of.
-
How do these products differ from each other?
-
What benefits do these products provide?
-
What better features do you/ you could provide?
-
What features do competitor’s products have that
yours do not. What features do your products have that are different you’re
your competitors?
Make yourself stand out from your competitors and emphasise
this in all your fully branded marketing materials and you should not only
stand out from others but also look larger, more professional and
memorable. What more do you want?
