How to Create a Slick Narrated Slideshare Presentation

Guest post by: Jeff Ogden

Article Overview: Slideshare is one of my favorite content marketing tools used in B2B demand generation, but one of my pet peeves is those who create beautiful but silent slides. Seems such a waste - like a mute super-model.

How to Create a Slick Narrated Slideshare Presentation

Find New Customers | Content Marketing with Slidehare
If that beautiful young lady could speak, she'd be vastly more interesting. Instead most Slideshares sit there and look good. Vapid and boring. Let me show you how you can give voice that beautiful young woman.

Slideshare.net is a powerful marketing tool for a few reasons - especially since it was re-designed recently in HTML5.

  • It can be easily embedded within a blog post.
  • Google can search inside your presentation - great for SEO.
  • It looks great on mobile devices and tablets.
So lets look at the steps of creating a narrated Slideshare. Let me show you how it is done.

(You may need to sign up for a premium account to do this.) Here's how to create a slick narrated Slideshare:

  1. Log into Slideshare and upload your presentation.
  2. "Present" your presentation on your own computer and narrate it as if you were giving it. Record your voice (I use Audacity - free audio recorder). Save the finished file as an MP3 file.
  3. Upload your audio file to Slideshare, using Add an MP3 file.
  4. "Marry" your audio file to the slides. Slideshare offers a graphic tool with vertical bars. You can work slide by slide and move the bars for each slide to indicate the start and end of the audio for the slide. Keep working slide by slide until the entire audio file is mapped.
When you are finished, save it, test it and publish it.

Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? - Hi GT, One of my goals for this year is to start using video over the summer. I checked the "actively researching" box as I have been looking into it in the last six months with that in mind. I have practical experience with making videos as that is what I do with my "English Presentation" students at college in their second term. Earlier this year, I used iMovie on my Mac OSX to make a DVD stringing together edited versions of the students' presentations, so I'm OK with the technical side... It's the production side that is more of a challenge at the moment!

niche forum categories niche forum categories - I think Kevin just touched on the point that I was going make... and that is developing 'categories' that stick. Sales and Marketing may be too broad for example. However I can almost guarantee you that you would see many more sign-ups if you tailored a category to 'internet marketing' for newbies. I've seen this work on other forums, however, [i:1i903wkn]it can get a little frantic[/i:1i903wkn]... Fine tuning the categories, or expanding the scope should be effective. I think a lot of IM folks are surfing right on by because they're not finding what they're looking for here... Just a few thoughts: Better Blogging Developing Info Products Internet Marketing Presentation Skills More How to's Another point is... a lot of people don't know that they can benefit from participating in forums. The signature links to their site - if they have one - can / should be motivation enough to get more involved. The more internet savvy members that have signatures seem to stick around more... Don't you think?
Re: Getting Press Coverage Re: Getting Press Coverage - Thanks for those extra tips again Evan. Also don't forget the 'purple cow' theory. Create something truly awesome and unique and people will pay attention, including journalists. I have some off the wall stuff planned for 2010.
