After reporting a loss for several quarters with declining revenues, the Board sends the founder into retirement and picks a successor as CEO. So what is that successor to do?

Obviously, cost savings will be an initial focus. Money-losing product will be cut short. Unprofitable divisions will be closed. And some employees will be shown the door. Certainly, cash flow will improve.

But a simple fact remains:

You cannot save your way to prosperity

What do you do? Unfortunately, the new CEO has many choices.

• Do you hire new sales leadership and buy training?
• Do you invest in advertising - trade shows, print ads, etc.
• Or do you look for outside capital?

Our recommendation is this: Invest in B2B lead generation.

It's not quick and it is not inexpensive, but it is the single best way to drive revenue and market share growth in future years.

Strategy People - Greetings all! Recently I have come to the understanding that I am severely lacking strategy. I have many, many tactics on how to make money with my business but without a strategy to implement those tactics I'm spinning my wheels. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Need Help Growing? - One resource that I've found to be extremely helpful was calling the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). I've met a lot of top business owners who have used the BDC for various reasons (i.e. sales/marketing strategy, training, foreign development, etc) and all say it was a massive help. The BDC will usually help you create the strategy using industry specific consultants and then not only help you fund the consultant's work but also the strategy. Their loan terms are little higher than banks but they’re a lot more easy going and understanding than regular banks.
