“The Office” and the world of sales

The most recent episode of The Office was all about “New Leads.”

Salespeople were going crazy, looking for the latest leads from corporate. Of course, Michael screwed it up and the leads ended up in the dump.

This episode rang true for me. Salespeople need leads, and the techniques of the past, such as cold calling and blasting out emails, rarely if ever work today. And just like the salespeople in The Office were desperately looking for leads, so too your salespeople look for leads – desperately.

Where do leads really come from? It’s not as simple as having corporate blow a wad of money like Dunder-Mifflin.

Today, you need Content Marketing, Lead Nurturing, Lead Scoring, Progressive Profiling, Buyer Personas. Huh? Doesn’t make sense?

Head over to Find New Customers. Download How to Find New Customers. Then contact us and let us help you make your salespeople very, very happy. Dwight, Jim, Meridith and the rest will thank you.

Re: 12-Step Foolproof Sales Letter Template Re: 12-Step Foolproof Sales Letter Template - This type of gimmickry might work in the quick hit consumer or internet marketing world, but do you really think this is going to help when you are selling to decision makers at a business? The full proof sales letter in the business world contains: 1. A quote from a customer that achieved results 2. Direct knowledge of the person you are reaching out to 3. A call to action that can give them the option of seeing how your offering makes a difference. This is a simple sauce that makes for great sales dishes.
Re: How do you overcome the fear of rejection while selling? Re: How do you overcome the fear of rejection while selling? - Great video Evan, I have not worked in direct sales in the none Internet world, always in the service sector but many years back I worked as service manager for a national brewer here in the UK and the sales manager was fond of telling all his team that they should get used to rejection, it is part of sales. My own take on this has always been that some will, some won't, so what, move on !!. I find this is very true with Internet Marketing and I never take any rejection personally as it is not me that customers are rejecting but what I am selling or the way that I am selling it and both of these things can be improved, regards, Mal.
Re: 7 Ways to Improve Sales Results Without Hiring New People Re: 7 Ways to Improve Sales Results Without Hiring New People - Hi Evan, Thank you for your post and link to 7 ways to improve sales results. I agree with you that many of the recommendations can equally be applied to affiliate marketers although at first glance it would be easy to dismiss them as only relating to direct office contact with sales staff. In this hi-tech world that we live in it is just as easy to support, coach, motivate and evaluate results with our downline or team by using modern media gadgets as if we were all in the same room. regards, Mal.
How many sales people do you have working for you. How many sales people do you have working for you. - I love this forum since it has such a large variety of members. It would be great to have a better understanding of the sales function (if there is one) in your company. If you have a minute, vote in our poll and tell us about your sales department breakdown and sales efforts.
Review My: e-product sales letter Review My: e-product sales letter - Hello Forum members! We have a lot of sales and direct marketing expertise in here so I thought I would ask for a review of my sales letter for my newly launched e-workbook on how to write a business plan. I'm working on a round of testimonials to include with the sales letter so I know that's a missing component. I wrote the sales letter myself and I tried to lay the benefits out as clearly as possible but I'm not a professional copywriter so I'm open to suggestions! Thank you in advance!
