Engage Customers Using Photo Contest Promotions for a Home Based Business

Photo contest promotions are a fun and effective way to promote any home based business. A photo contest can get the attention of customers, friends and fans who will enjoy the opportunity to show off their creativity and share their love for your brand. Plan Ahead for a Fun Photo Contest

The keys to using photo contest promotions for a home based business are to:

1. Find a fun or fascinating theme that highlights your products or services;

2. Write and post your rules and entry requirements;

3. Offer valuable and/or desirable prizes;

4. Broadcast your contest promotion as widely as possible; and

5. Follow-up with announcements about contest results.

Finding a Theme

Establish a theme for your photo contest that shows how your products can make life better or more fun. Consider the reasons customers are interested in your home based business at all.

If you sell well-known brands your photo contest promotion could focus on brand loyalty. Ask contestants to show in pictures why they prefer your brand over others. If your home based business is associated with a certain lifestyle (like mountain biking, cooking or home decorating, for instance) ask customers to post pictures of people using and enjoying your products.

Rules and Requirements

The entry rules for your photo contest don't have to be elaborate. Create a simple written outline with entry requirements, how and where to post photos, a list of prizes and information on how winners will be determined, and final deadlines for entry. Post the contest rules on your website and make it the landing page for backlinks to your photo contest.

Offer Relevant Prizes

Customers of your home based business will most appreciate prizes that are relevant to the products you sell. Decide what you can afford to offer and choose prizes that are as useful and/or valuable as possible. You can foster even more customer participation (and more sales) by offering customers a discount coupon for each uploaded photo and allowing entrants to post multiple photos.

Getting the Word Out

The Internet offers the most efficient avenue for publicizing your photo contest promotion.

- Post a prominent banner on your website's home page with a link to contest rules and information pages.

- Send a special email announcement to your newsletter opt-in list and make it easy for recipients to respond and participate.

- Announce your contest to friends and fans via Twitter, Facebook and other social media avenues. Be sure to link back to the contest pages on your website and urge your fans to share your tweets and blogs with their friends.

Keep It Going

When your contest ends that doesn't mean the end of the promotion. Send another publicity blast to announce the prize winners and include the winning photos. Post the best photos on your website and write descriptions that include hyperlinks to your product pages.

These are just a few simple tips to engage customers using photo contest promotions for your home based business. Don't be afraid to add your own creativity to the mix.
