Enhance Your Value

Value is a really weird thing. For example, what is the value of a brick? Some might say $1.10, or whatever the market price is for bricks. However, what if there is a severe brick shortage and you need one more brick to make your new building the tallest in the world. What is the value to you of that last brick?

When determined by a dollar amount, value is relatively easy to define. Even in fantasy cases like a severe brick shortage, there will be some way to get a fairly good idea of value, or price.

However, value gets even weirder when it is applied to things we can’t price. What is the value of a walk on the beach?...in a blistering snowstorm? What value is there in knowing how far it from your home to your workplace? What is the value of being the life of the party?

What is the value of your web site to your customers?

If you have never thought of your site that way, you need to start because the more value your customers get from your web site, the more valuable it is to you.

Now the weird bit. How do you determine the value of your web site to customers? None will ever pay to see your site. Either they will visit or they won’t.

It’s when you start examining why they visit that you will begin to discover the value your site holds for them and it all starts with finding out what your customers need.

That makes it simple, find out what your customers need, provide it, and have a very valuable web site. But, don’t forget the weird bits, and the internet only adds to them. Your web site could have everything your customers seek, and a few extras, and still be of no value, to your customers or you.

If customers can’t find your site, it might as well not exist. So, does that mean if you have everything your customers need, and get your site to show up when your customers are looking, will you finally have a valuable site?

Not nearly as valuable as it could be. Showing up when your customers search is wonderful, but how do you get them to choose your company amongst all the others that show up? And what about when they click on your site – will they stick around and become paying customers?

Fill your site with content that is relevant to the needs of your customers, get your site to rank highly on web searches, make your site the obvious choice and convert visitors into business leads or customers. If you do all of these well, you will have a very valuable web site.
