What Aaron Wagschal Taught Me About Saying Thank You

In Business as entrepreneurs we always find ourselves strapped for time and in a rush to get things done. The last two weeks in particular have been extremely hectic for me in our business. We have just taken on an influx of new clients and all of the sudden their seems to be so much to do. This is typical for many business owners that are wearing multiple hats. You perform a circus juggling act trying to keep it all together. You have so many tasks in front of you that you don't know which one to tackle next. And you are working more hours than you would like to admit. You start to wonder why you got into this business in the first place and if you're really making a difference. You consider throwing in the towel and calling it a day. Getting a day job to stop worrying about when and where the next cheque will come from.

But then something happens in your life that makes all that pain and worry go away.

Through the mess, the chaos, and the constant motion a phone call stops you. It's a client on the other line and they want to say thank you for the work that you've done. All of the sudden you realize that you are making a difference, that people do care about what you are doing, and you are adding value in this world.

This is what happened to me last week. Aaron Wagschal of Innopex Limited took the time out of his busy day to pick up the phone and make a call. I thought I was busy until I met Aaron. Aaron is the Vice President and Operations Manager of Innopex Limited and he also runs other companies within the Innopex Group of Companies. Here he was on the other end of the line making a personal call to say thanks. That was the whole purpose of the call. Two simple words yet they had a profound impact on me.

In a world where everyone is running around like crazy. Where people would rather send an email then speak to you in person. It is nice to know that there are still people that go out of their way to show appreciation for people and their work.

While it only might have taken him a couple extra minutes the impact that this call had was enormous. I now understand why some business people are successful and why others fail. Aaron Wagschal understands that business is all about relationships and the best way to have and maintain relationships is through connecting with others and showing appreciation.

What supplier has helped you out that you would like thank?

Why don't you pick up the phone and tell them about it.

Normally, I'll just: 1.) Make a list of what I need do. 2.) Brainstorm ideas. 3.) Visualize the desired and final outcome. 4.) Take action. 5.) Look back at how I could've done things better and improve the next time.
