When I first got into business at 13, I was all about me. At 13, there wasn't much I didn't know. Just ask my dad. However, as I grew older and got further along in business, I recognized that successful people have some common characteristics.

We all want to make more Money. Instead of a business idea, or new investment, I am going to teach you 5 key principles that will take you to getting more money.

More - You have to do more or give more than you're doing now. What are you willing to do differently today, than you did yesterday? How much more time? How much more are you willing to give to your customers? To your friends and referral partners? In order to receive, you have to be willing to give. No one likes a taker. People like to feel good about their interactions with others. We like givers. Think about the takers in your life. We all have them. Do you like to be around them?

Others - It's about what we do or give to others. In order to get more money, we need others involved. Buyers, investors, customers. From other people is where we get the money. In order for them to part with their money, we have to have their interests in mind. What can we do for them? How can you add value?

Networking - Money comes from other people. The only way I know to meet more people is through networking. Getting referrals, finding new customers. We can advertise, and we should, we can cold call, and we should, but networking is the best way to meet good people quickly. There are tons of organizations that are designed to help you meet more people. You have to build your network today.

Enthusiasm - People love excited people. Positive people attract. It always does. Yes, you will attract fair weather friends, but you will also uncover the true friends at the same time.

and finally you have to say........

Yes - Yes to success. Yes to your clients. Yes to getting out and meeting people. Yes to doing a great job. Yes to doing what is right. We're in business to say yes. The next time your client calls and asks "do you do that?" say Yes.

I hope this acrostic helps you to remember the 5 keys to more money. There are certainly important strategies for you to do, but this is about your attitude toward success.

Be a giver, go make mo' money.

Director for BNI, he has been helping overcome their fear of meeting people. Spencer has been teaching & speaking publicly since 1998 in both a classroom setting as well as the auditorium. Spencer is married to "Baby doll" now for 22 years, has three grown children. The older two are serving in Afghanistan and the youngest in college.
