Classifieds can be used to sell or purchase items, rent homes, solicit or seek services (i.e. cleaning, maintenance, babysitting) and even search for friendship or romantic connections. Instructions  Outline the main points you want to put in your classified advertisement. Most free classifieds have strict word limits, so it is important to plan ahead to prevent leaving out any crucial information (i.e. prices, model names and numbers, contact information).  Consider the subject of your ad and who the intended audience should be when choosing in which type of classified forum the ad will be most effective. Many local newspapers have space reserved for free classified ads, as well as some national magazines. Bulletin boards around your community can also be a great forum for posting a classified ad that is seeking to reach people within your specific town or city. The Internet, especially websites such as Craigslist or a site that is specific to your posting subject, will allow the person posting to reach a much wider audience. Ecommerce Guide also recommends sites such as 89classifieds, both of which are free, but the ads can be upgraded at a cost, if you want a "deluxe" ad with more-prominent placement on the site.  Abbreviate and use acronyms when possible to maximize the amount of pertinent information you can fit into your ads. The classifieds lingo can be tricky at first, but most people who frequent the classifieds section understand the common abbreviations and terms. Even with the use of shortened words, classifieds are a very small space to express you, so it is crucial to be clear and concise.  Post a picture to generate more interest and help illustrate your ad, if the forum allows for photographs. Most print classified sections are strictly text, but the Internet allows you more space to write in detail and include pictures, when appropriate.  Be cautious with any personal information that you are divulging in free classified advertisements, such as address, phone number or email address. Because this is not a controlled environment, anyone can access this information. Consider creating an email address used just for your classified ads; this will help protect you and make it easier to keep your responses separate and organized from your regular email.

Re: Using Craigslist SEO to Promote Your Website - I suggest that you look at what Craigslist did. It started very locally and saturated itself with local listings. Then it gradually branches out to other locations, getting saturated with each one. Now it's a global classifieds board as you well know. It's not a bad idea. People aren't going to list or view your classifieds if you don't have an audience or listing traffic. Getting listings from all over the place with an scattered audience isn't enticing at all. Focus on getting your current city using it.
Re: How can I promote my site? - In addition to the other suggestions... * Start a podcast chatshow all about videos - from news about videos on your sites & interviews with the makers, to "how to" tips for would-be video makers etc. * Go offline and advertise or write articles for or post classifieds in video/animation/film magazines... * Press releases... * Solo ads in relevant ezines... * Make a whole bunch of lenses on Squidoo.com, one for each video on your site... Have you put a list-building strategy in place, by the way?
Re: How do you get your clients? - I am very new at online business and I am not really sure how to go about creating business for myself. I've started with email campaigns, seo and posting my services in the classifieds
Re: How can I promote my site? - Since you have video content use TubeMogul to post your videos to the major video sharing sites like Google. Link back atthe top of your description to your site, and also show your domain name with call to action in the video.
Re: Thank you for the review, Evan. - Jason, I love the description. My struggle is I still don't know who I can send you to. As a connector I always like to know the types of people my network is looking for. I don't know who to refer you to. If you said you helped people who hate their jobs become entrepreneurs, for example, that's a clear demographic to me. If you said you helped employees who wanted to rise up quickly in their organization through your coaching program, that's another specific demographic for me. Your description has a lot of energy and is definitely uplifting... but I don't know how to help! If you make it easy for people to understand what you do then it's easier for them to send business your way.
