How to make your blog stand out in a tough niche

All good blogging advice guides you towards choosing something you love, to blog about. If you follow this advice it often means you will be blogging in a really tough niche. You will find that no matter how great your content is, that your blog is struggling to be noticed and get the traction it deserves.
In this article I am going to share three ways for your blog to stand out in a tough, busy niche.

Make your blog's theme look different when compared to everyone else's in your industry.

When you have a new, fresher look then decide upon graphic placement. Be prepared to tweak little things until you get your blog converting how you want. Remember you want to stand out not scare people off. Consider adding a few photos of yourself to the sidebar and a lot more on your about page. Help your reader connect with you. Video on your about page means that your reader hears your voice and sees your mannerisms, they get to know you quicker.

Email sign ups.

When trying to build your list from your blog you will be tempted to offer the same kind of giveaway that everyone else does. Don't. Do your research, see what your ideal reader is talking about. See what their problems are and work out if they have a budget for the solution. Create an optin giveaway that solves the audiences problems, team that up with your early autoresponder content and you'll build a lot of trust in. Make your readers feel safe and they'll be loyal to your blog and share your content.

For your optin freebie, offer something different than others in your niche are offering. Up your game and listen to your readers - it makes a significant difference.

Be a real person.

Send personal email thank yous to those who promote any of your posts. When was the last time a blogger thanked you for sharing their content on your Facebook wall or Twitter? They may leave a comment or Tweet you thanks, but how many send an email? Very few - stand out, be different and make it personal.

It's not enough to have great content on your blog, you've got to stand out. Think about making changes to your site's looks, what you can offer that's different and what thrills them, oh and get personal. You can stand out in a tough blogging niche and grow a terrific audience.

How do we, as EvanCarmichael.com members, work together as a group to start a business blog with some niche focus that we can all contribute [u:23fizvat]quality[/u:23fizvat] content to (like the quality of the $15 million blog) to eventually attract the interest of a $15 million buyer? We can then sell it and split the limelight and the proceeds! ;-] Forgive me, Evan, if you already have such a blog started on your site! The Mastermind Principle. Can we put it into practice? Re: New site promotion - how to begin? Re: New site promotion - how to begin? - How about uploading videos around your niche to you tube and then directing them back to your site? Also article marketing is a good way to get traffic along with blog commenting on relevant sites within your niche
Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - Thanks GT, been there and done that as is said in an overused cliche just as hauling around 18/8 stainless steel pots and panes, Kirby vacuums, Tupperware, Bibles, etc. Notice my load got lighter Now I just to Service online, information, ebooks, articles etc. Works for me Agree with Michelle, however any niche remains a niche unless you can break it out of the niche and make a market for it
Re: Blog sells for up to $15 million Re: Blog sells for up to $15 million - We need to brainstorm some possible ideas and a high visibility business niche to focus on. Something that allows us to access real, relative information and facts that we can then post to the blog to inform and enlighten the readers. Nothing commercial in the posts. No marketing or selling or promoting this or that. Just hard facts and information relative to the niche. Information that will help or inspire readers interested in that niche. GT :-]
Re: Great start, but no finish Re: Great start, but no finish - Hi Keven, By good idea or niche I mean the area where you have good knowledge. Here is how. I want to start my online business. And I must find the good topic for my business. WHat can it be? I 'm lawyer and have enough knowledge about it. THen why not to start a blog giving legal advice to people? Or if you are weight loss expert, then weight loss i a good idea or niche for your online business. Also the monetization potential of the niche is important too. If there is good mon. potential and I have special knowledge about my niche then I can have advantage in the competition and it can be a good idea for my future business. This is what I mean by" good niche" After finding my pofitable niche, it will be easy to build business on it. Orxan
