I get about 100 spams a day, some because I order stuff off the internet, and my email address might be sold to other vendors so they can solicit me.
A possible solution is a 'disposable' email address---a sort of online alias---called "Sneakemail" which let's you create as many aliases as you want.
Mail to your Sneakemail address is rerouted to your real one and when you reply it is rerouted back to the sender.
Your real address is never seen. If you get unwanted email through this Sneakemail alias, such as spam, you control it by filtering incoming mail using the Sneakemail filters, disabling the Sneakemail address itself, or disposing of it permanently.
You also now know where a spammer got your address.
