If you're like me, you'll read an article, ebook, a physical book, etc. and think, "Wow, that's great stuff!" then let it lay, ending up doing nothing with this new information.
What we should do is act on it.
That's how we learn. By doing---not just by reading about it.
All the knowledge in the world won't do you any good unless you DO something with it. You have to act on the information.
And the best way I have found to take action, is to write it down. If you plan on doing something, write it down so you remember it, and can refer to it, and remind yourself.
When you write something down you are making a promise to yourself that you are going to do it.
If this sounds like a to-do list it is. But we usually just use them for daily activities. In this case we write what we plan to do because of something we've read. Reminders about our readings should go into a notebook that we review daily, and prioritize, just as we do with to-do lists.
This may sound simple, but don't dismiss it. Write down the things you've decided to do. And review these intentions each morning before you do anything else. Underline those you plan to do that day, and keep it in front of you do. Cross them off as you complete them.
Try it on this article, and see how it motivates you to act.
