Finding Your Right Course

1 Over 200 years ago, Captain Cook, in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, with only a compass, and the stars to guide him, must have asked himself these 4 questions:
1. Where am I, right now?
2. Where do I want to be?
3. What are the various ways of getting there?
4. What's the best way for me, right now?
Sometimes, we feel like Cook must have felt, alone, in an immense emptiness, without maps to guide us, wondering what to do. Despite (or perhaps, because of) various electronic guidance devices we feel lost, or confused, and don't know why we're doing what we're doing, or what we really want out of life.
Whenever, I'm in that position, these 4 easily remembered questions come to my aid: even for small stuff, such as driving to a friend's new house; or medium stuff, like an interview with a new prospect; but especially for h3 stuff, such as "Where do I want to be 5 years from now?".
'Cook's 4 questions', as I think of them, are particularly useful at this time, when we're tallying up what we have (or haven't) accomplished in the past year, and are wondering what to do about the coming year.
So ask yourself each question, and think over your answer to it before going onto the next. If you're really serious about discovering whether you're getting closer to your goals, or drifting away from them, write them down, and save both the questions, and your answers to look at in future months to see if you're on the right course.
Who knows? You may be closer to YOUR goals than you think!

Re: Where is the best place to find a web developer? Re: Where is the best place to find a web developer? - That's a really tough one. Finding a business partner is like finding a wife - it takes a lot of trust to get the right one. I would try to hang out at tech-related startup events and see if you hit it off with anybody. Good luck!
Re: Hello from Missouri Re: Hello from Missouri - I have been unsuccessfull thus far finding an online resource of people who operate in the market I'm serving. Finding those people are a big part of why I posted here, but I'm not certain this is the right area either. The search continues...
Re: Before you spend all your money on a prototype Re: Before you spend all your money on a prototype - Its hard to pick out a favourite part. But one thing I really LOVE is the whole idea that if we could see what lies ahead for us, it would help us all stay focused and positive. While we dont often get the chance to see into the future, we can try harder to remember that we do create our own realities. I also love the Disney quote at the and it reminds me of Finding Nemo, just keep swimming, just keep swimming... J
Re: Backlink Partnerships Re: Backlink Partnerships - Tyrone gives good advice about outsourcing. Thanks for reminding us about his Philippines outsourcing tip. Finding someone who can deliver what you want - and more - can be a matter of trial and error. But once you find that person or team, keep them busy! Don't give up the search just because the first one or two underperformed or failed to perform at all. Remember, every successful entrepreneur gets there with the help of others. You just have to go out and find 'em!
