How to Market Yourself

Marketing is everything you do to get the word out about your business.
It includes networking, cold calling, e-zines, sales letters, web sites, Yellow Page ads, direct mail, coupons, speaking presentations ... and the list goes on.
* Every time you mention your business to someone, you're marketing.
* Every time you hand out your business card, you're marketing.
* Every time someone hears the name of your business in your outgoing voice mail message, you're marketing.
* Every time you give out free samples, you're marketing.
Marketing is what keeps your business alive and well. It's what brings in new customers and keeps previous customers in your active files.
* When you market, you put yourself in contact with people. And the more people you reach, the more customers you gain.
* When you provide excellent customer service, you are marketing.
* When you join online discussion groups and offer advice or suggestions related to your industry, you're marketing.
* When you sign your forum post with your name and the name of your business, you're marketing.
* When you add your "signature" at the end of an email message, you're marketing.
Did you know that others can market for you?
* Every time someone gives you a testimonial, that person is marketing for you.
* Every time a past client refers someone to you, that person is helping you market.
If your business seems to be acting a bit lethargic, perhaps it's time to give it a good shot of marketing.
It'll do wonders or you ... honest!

Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - ignore this message IF it's already been stated. I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
