Nothing can boost your career like enhancing your talent and ability as a speaker. There are hundreds of opportunities to reach countless prospects. Speaking is one of the best ways to display your talents. So run, don't walk to enroll in a public speaking course (e.g. Dale Carnegie) in your area.
Your local telephone directory lists dozens of associations, service clubs, and self-help groups who are desperate for interesting speakers. And in every audience there will be prospects eager to learn more about what you do, and how it might benefit them.
When speaking, avoid a direct pitch. The audience did not come to hear your advertising. Be seen as knowledgeable, accessible, open, approachable, and receptive. And, rather than discuss your work at the podium, encourage those in the audience to pick up the phone and call you.
