Social Networking Online in 2010 and Small Business
On MySpace you can browse, find people, be involved in forums about automotive, business, campus life, computers, technology, fashion, games and a whole lot more. People are getting to share ideas, leave comments, ask questions, sharing video clips of topics of interest. In part, or in whole they are defining themselves and defining a culture or group of like-minded people online. In essence, they are defining their space, what interests them, what is important to them and who they want to interact with. If you look at it sometimes the language seems shorter, more choppy, people are in a hurry or are responding with initial reactions. Others have longer more defined summaries of their thoughts that are quite poetic.
MySpace continues to be a place where you can share your music likes, dislikes and interests, share musical videos or just make a statement.
Twitter has been in the news many times in 2009 and with 60 millions users and counting it continues to be a place where people can make their 140 character statements that lead to groups and responses. It gets people talking to each other about topics that are important to them or topics that are new to them. Most importantly it can get people talking about topics that are happening at present. It's ability to connect large amounts of people in quick succession can span cities and countries in seconds, quite amazing isn't it?
Facebook has had it continual increase in users, people gain 100's of friends online though friends of friends. I know people that are on Facebook and people that aren't. It has become a way to make connections with people you haven't seen in awhile or people you haven't met yet through similar acquaintances. It makes you ask questions such as: What ever happened to? Where is? They seem to have similar interests? Who are they? and Who do they know?
However important all these sites become, inevitably, they seem to serve a purpose, a purpose of connecting people to others with like-minded interests or people embattled in discussion. People speak of future businesses and of connections. What next will come onto the market in 2010 to join social media and small business? How will people define their small business online? What tools or resources will they use? This will be the next questions we need to answer in the advancing of social media, people and small business online in the next decade.
