Recently the Ontario government invested $1.7 million in young entrepreneurs in support of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation which will assist young entrepreneurs in Toronto and other areas of Ontario receive loans to start up new businesses. They are estimating this project will create 3500 new jobs and pump more than $50 million into the Ontario economy. More and more young entrepreneurs in Toronto and worldwide are turning to entrepreneurship to make their financial and personal dreams a reality. The revenue generated by these young entrepreneurs are not escaping the government and private corporations' attention and more programs are being implemented to support and benefit young business owners. Here are a few programs for Young Toronto Entrepreneurs: Canadian Youth Business Foundation (cybf.ca) – The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that provides resources, mentoring and financial support to young Canadian entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-34. For qualifying young entrepreneurs, CYBF can provide loans of up to $15,000 for new business start ups. They also provide on-line business resources and a mentorship program that will support the young entrepreneurs in their journey. The Business Development Bank of Canada (bdc.ca) – Young entrepreneurs in Toronto can benefit by researching the youth programs at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). BDC supports young entrepreneurs between the ages of 19 and 35 years of age with specialized financing and management consulting support. They offer advice from experienced business advisors with financial planning support as well as management coaching. BDC also highlights and recognizes the outstanding achievements of young Canadian entrepreneurs at the Young Entrepreneur Awards which is held annually throughout the different provinces of Canada . Royal Bank of Canada (rbcroyalbank.com) – RBC is another champion of young Toronto entrepreneurs. With financial support and a wide variety of business resources, RBC is definitely worth researching. They have created a package called “The Definitive Guide to Small Business Financial in Canada ” which can assist young entrepreneurs in their new ventures. They offer flexible financing options for business financing ranging from $5,000 to $100,000. Enterprise Toronto (enterprisetoronto.com) – Enterprise Toronto offers a Summer Company programs specifically designed for young entrepreneurs in Toronto from the ages of 15 to 29 who are interested in receiving hands-on business training and mentoring to start up and run their own summer businesses. Coordinated through the government's Small Business Enterprise Centres, the Summer Company program consists of volunteer business advisors from the local community. Successful applications will receive an award of up to $1500 in May/June to assist with their start up costs and an additional award of $1500 once they successfully completed the program and returned to school. Young entrepreneurs in Toronto are also encouraged to consider Mastermind Groups as a support option. Mastermind Groups offer entrepreneurs a chance to collaborate with other like-minded business owners in small group to share ideas, advice, networking circles and much more. |
