We have a solution that we are willing to offer you today that will make all parties involved happy. Our offer that is on the table for the next 30 days is to transfer your current balance over to a new credit card with a fixed 0% interest rate for the life of the debt. Credit Alliance Group has discovered that Banks and Collectors Have a New Twist on the Old Bait & Switch Tactic

The pitch goes something like this:

"Mr. Smith, Here at XYZ collections our goal is to find a solution to your current debt owed that will work with you current financial situation. We have a solution that we are willing to offer you today that will make all parties involved happy. Our offer that is on the table for the next 30 days is to transfer your current balance over to a new credit card with a fixed 0% interest rate for the life of the debt.

The best part is that you will be making a payment that you can afford and being a new line of credit it will help rebuild your credit score as you payoff you current debt!"

Now here is the catch:

In the fine print terms for the new credit card offer they have the right to sue the party to acquire the balance. Since the debt has been transferred to the new card the debt is no longer beyond the statue of limitations and is fair game for litigation. Not only does the card holder get a possible judgment and punishment (wage garnishment, liens, or foreclosure); they now have 2 bad marks on their credit report.

The moral of the story:

The first thing to do is avoid getting into debt! Pay cash and be very hesitant when it comes to financing anything. In today's society it is virtually impossible to live without some credit. Make sure that you take the time to educate yourself on how to properly build, maintain, and use your credit. There are many resources out there; especially with the internet at your fingertips.

If you do find yourself falling behind or you can see that it might happen; get help! There are many good companies out there that can guide you on what your options are.

Don't take the first piece of advice out there (including this article); debt is never a "one size fits all problem".

There are many good companies and there are just as many bad ones. Educate yourself on what the differences are between debt consolidations vs. debt management vs. debt settlement with Credit Alliance Group

BNI Groups - do they work? BNI Groups - do they work? - Hi Lesley, From the members in my Mastermind Group I've heard a number of positive and negative things about BNI Groups. Just like a Mastermind Group, it all depends on who the people are. If the personalities fit and the members can add value to your business it can be worth checking out. The best bet is to go to a meeting as a guest to get a sense of who is in the group and if it is for you. It doesn't cost you anything except a little extra sleep the morning of. Good luck!
Re: On Which Social Media Sites Are You Most Active? Re: On Which Social Media Sites Are You Most Active? - I must respectfully disagree completely with that premise Evan. When speaking of a "Small Group", we are talking abotu a "Mastermind Group". As we all know, such a group is instrumental to success, online or off. The groups can grow quite large too. My group currently has 35 members, but several are actively participating and sharing content.
Outlook Backups Outlook Backups - Well, my business partner discovered last week how important it is to get a GOOD backup for outlook. unfortunatley we've also discovered that the way he did back his info up wasn't sufficient.. too little too late mind you. Just curious to what you all do? Are you all even using outlook? I have outlook 2007 and while I couldn't live without it, I hate it. It's clunky, it doesn't always work right and I wish there was a better solution for me. How are you all accessing your mail? Do you do regular back ups?
Getting financed Getting financed - It has always been my experience that it will always be better to be in business debt rather than personal debt, but I suppose when you can run your business out of your home and have so little overhead, it could be better to simply finance yourself and secure a business line of credit just in case you need it. On the flip side, when it comes to businesses outside the home, you want to secure financing and SBA is probably the way to go (depending upon what your total project will cost). Banks that provide SBA loan products prefer the loan be 100K or more. Then there are Micro Loans (loans that go up to 35K) and Signature Loans that are unsecured loans and mainly based on your credit score (680 or higher), they can finance anything in between and then some. It's been said in some of my other posts that when you obtain business loans its beneficial because you are building a track record with a lender for future use. Should you get financed via a business loan and later you need additional working capital to keep your business going (or to expand) the lender is going to be more apt to help you because they have already taken on the risk of your loan. Now, they would prefer you better yourself whether it be expansion or to pull yourself out of a hole so you do not default on the 1st loan... and if that means helping you further, believe me they will do it. However, if you finance yourself, who's going to help you with additional working capital if you run into trouble? Lenders won't help you because you financed yourself...they tend to take on the attitude that you didnt need them before, so why now? What if you had originally financed yourslef with home equity and still haven't paid it back...now you have a first mortgage a second or Home Equity line of Credit and your business is in touble and you have no way out.
Building credit Building credit - Credit is like reputations, I suppose. Takes a lifetime to build, and only a second to destroy.
