Warren Buffett and his Effect on the Stock Market! Part 2

I wrote an article a couple of weeks ago, in which I laid out some reasons as to why I thought that Warren Buffet is very misinterpreted and misunderstood.Buffet is indeed one of the greatest investors to ever walk the face of the earth, and his strategies and ideas carry tremendous weight. He influences the influencers and very often his beliefs are taken out of context and therefore misunderstood and lead to stock bubbles.

When you listen to Buffett and talk about bonds, you would think they are the worst investments ever, and that everyone should be investing in 100% stock all the time. The truth of that matter is that Buffet does not like bonds, but he is never 100% invested in stocks. Buffet prefers cash over bonds, and when you step back for a second there is not a huge difference between bonds and cash when you are stock investor. Both have an inverse correlation to stocks and are relatively safe, but cash is even safer.

When it comes to market timing if you listen to Buffet you would think that he is dead set against it. Nevertheless, his fortune has been built on being patient and waiting for the market to take a big drop, and then going in and buying everything cheap. Is this not market timing? You better believe it is!

Market timing is really one of those things where most people are either on one end or the other. They either feel that is impossible or that is the only way to invest. Nobody can predict what is going to happen in markets consistently time after time, but when you close your mind to market timing you lose the flexibility necessary to be a good investor.

Buffet is much more of a mystery than he would lead people to believe, and although he called derivatives weapons of mass destruction he himself has owned them. If you are looking for black and white investing tips, Buffet is not the place to start, like he has said "Investing is not complicated, but it is far from easy'.

Re: Do Women Play the Stock Market? Re: Do Women Play the Stock Market? - Thankfully, I do the finances in our household so there will be no surprises here! I cannot imagine not knowing what is going on. (In case you're wondering, my husband and I do consult with each other about major purchases though.) Until recently, I've only played a little in my RRSP's. I can't say I made any huge gains. I've done much better in real estate. My sister has done really well trading her RRSP's in penny stocks and if I remember correctly, she recently doubled her money in only a year. I'm hoping to change my own Stock Market record though! I got in on the ground level of a new green energy company in BC. It began as a private offering at 50 cents a share and now is offered at $1 a share only 3 months later. It's selling like hot cakes and will be closed to sales by the end of April (if there are any shares left). It was just evaluated by an independent company at around $6 a share. The company plans to be on the TSX this year and I expect to make a good return. Wish me well!
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - ignore this message IF it's already been stated. I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
