Re: Become a Leader? It scared the hell out of me! Re: Become a Leader? It scared the hell out of me! - Thank you Zackman. I am very fortunate to have powerful partners and friends. They help me any way they can and they have skills i do not posses myself, and never will have. Technical stuff on servers and scripts are difficult for me. Of SEO I know only some basics. My writing appeals mostly to non-English users I think. I have a vivid imagination for creating graphical campaigns and splash pages and progressing in engaging people to be active. On the networks I am on people know that I am Dutch and that I started form scratch when I went global; people can relate to that and and the threshold to ask me something is lower than to as the seasoned experts I think. LOL I am both teacher and student in online marketing at the same time; i can help and advise newbies but I am still far away regarding knowledge and skills from where I want to be. Sometimes I am still scared but I won't allow that to hold me back. I started several things I was afraid of, like being an admin at Kooiii and buying a TE while knowing nothing about databases and scripting. To find out that it was not half as scary as I thought and that help sometimes comes from unexpected places. Greetz, paula
Betting on the law of averages Betting on the law of averages - Dale Carnegie says "As the years went by, I gradually discovered that ninety-nine per cent of the things I worried about never happened... The most famous insurance company on earth-Lloyd's of London-has made countless millions of dollars out of the tendency of everybody to worry about things that rarely happen. Lloyd's of London bets people that the disasters they are worrying about will never occur. However, they don't call it betting. They call it insurance. But it is really betting based on the law of averages...don't happen nearly so often as people imagine" ("How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" 67 & 68). In the past, I think I spent an additional $130 for "3 Year Return to Depot Service and Technical Support" when I bought my Dell laptop and $30 for 2 years of replacement protection for my glass desk. While I've had to call Dell for technical support for my laptop on a few occasions, I've yet to replace any glass panel on my desk.
Definitions of merger Definitions of merger - Mergers can be characterized according to three categories: horizontal mergers, which take place between firms that are actual or potential competitors occupying similar positions in the chain of production; vertical mergers, which take place between firms at different levels in the chain of production (such as between manufacturers and retailers); and other mergers, such as those which take place between unrelated businesses or conglomerates with different types of businesses. Aberdeen Lyle Merger Analysis Large mergers, acquisitions and some other corporate combinations require prior review and approval in some jurisdictions. As part of their review, competition authorities may prohibit mergers or approve them subject to conditions. Mergers are usually only prohibited or subjected to conditions if the authority concludes that the merger will substantially harm competition. Given the discretion inherent in the interpretation of this threshold, various competition authorities have published merger guidelines. These are intended to assist firms and their advisers to anticipate the procedures and criteria, which will be applied in assessing a merger. Some Merger Concerns Merger reviews typically focus on horizontal mergers since, by definition, they reduce the number of competitors in the relevant markets. Also of concern are mergers between firms, which are active in a particular market with another firm, which is a potential competitor.
