11 Rappers Who Owed Taxes in 2010

In 2010, many rappers ran into tax problems. This happens every year, but it seems that 2010 brought more troubles for rap artists than ever before. Just like the rest of us, these celebrities need to pay taxes or they will be slapped with penalties, interest and possibly jail time. Here are 11 rappers that owed taxes in 2010:

  1. Fat Joe. There is no denying that Fat Joe is a big name in the rap industry. As the CEO of Terror Squad Entertainment, he knows a thing or two about the biz. One thing he apparently does not know is how to pay his taxes. Fat Joe currently owes $139k.
  2. Trick Daddy. Since taking the world by storm with his hit single "I'm a Thug" in 2001, Trick Daddy he has not done much. Along with an inconsistent career, Trick Daddy owes the IRS more than $157k.
  3. Chamillionaire. He may call himself Chamillionaire, but to the IRS he is Hakeem Seriki. Despite his numerous musical accolades, the IRS is still after him for $184,692 in back taxes.
  4. Obie Trice. Obie Trice is well known for his affiliation with Eminem and has survived a number of tragedies, including taking a bullet to the head in 2005. He currently owes the IRS approximately $300k in back taxes.
  5. Young Buck. Young Buck used to be part of the rap group G-Unit. Now, he has his own label. Amidst confusion over the breakup he must have forgotten to pay his taxes. At this time, Young Buck owes roughly $300k.
  6. Beanie Sigel. Worldwide, Sigel has sold more than two million albums. In addition to spending time in federal prison on weapons charges, Sigel has run into issues with the IRS. He currently owes $540k in back taxes.
  7. Snoop Dogg. One of the most popular rappers of all time, millions of eyes are always on Snoop Dogg. Unfortunately for him, the IRS is also watching. In 2009, the state of California put a tax lien on his home. In 2010, the IRS filed a lien. He currently owes $600k in back taxes.
  8. Swizz Beatz. Since the age of 17, Swizz Beatz has been a rapper, DJ and record producer. He is also married to Alicia Keys. One thing he has not been is a guy who pays taxes on time. Swizz Beatz currently owes $652,727 in back taxes.
  9. Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne has been rapping since the age of 9. Has he been obeying the law, though? In addition to time served in prison for criminal possession of a weapon, Lil Wayne also owes $1.3 million in back taxes.
  10. Doug E Fresh. As an early pioneer of beat boxing, Doug E Fresh is known all over the world for his musical talent. He is now becoming known as the guy who owes $2,276,848 in back taxes.
  11. Nas. There is no denying that Nas has rapping skills. There is also no denying the fact that he owes a lot of money to the IRS. As of January 2011, his total tax debt is roughly $6 million.

hiring an employee hiring an employee - You may want to consider contracting out instead of actually hiring. Some factors to think about if you hire someone as an employee and you put them on payroll you will be required to pay CPP and EI, as well as deducting CPP, EI and Taxes from their paycheck and remitting them to Revenue Canada. So you will need to 1. Register with Revenue Canada so you can make the remittenances 2. make sure you keep really good track of these deductions 3. it you don't have the time to do payroll you may need to hire a bookkeeper. or you could contract out the hours that you would need an assistant. The would be able to work from their space or your office. There is another option that you might want to consider some of the community centers offers training programs for new immigrants or anyone wish to change professions some of these programs require that they offer their services for 6 or 8 weeks (no charge to the employer). If you need someone short term this may help you and provide extra training for someone else. Microskills is one of the Community Centers that offer such programs. they train customer service personal, bookkeepers.
