There’s a wide array of mobile gadgets available today with contrasting features as far as technicalities are concerned. Although this is a great challenge among mobile website developers, there are proven solutions that will work for the majority of these tools if not all. The obvious difference in the sizes of screens for smartphones compared to iPads will not be an issue anymore when implementing these principles in designing mobile sites. Mobile equipment’s features like flash-video elements, fast processors, touch screens and full-featured browsers will not anymore discriminate mobile website viewers – when the following considerations are made when designing a mobile website:
- The pages of the mobile site can be designed to fit in all sizes of screens. It has the ability to expand and contract automatically when the particular mobile browser has been identified by the system. This will ensure that viewers can have good access with the site regardless of the type of mobile device they are using. This will definitely not limit the number of viewers to the site.
- Requiring users to do the scrolling to make the content more visible will not be helpful to the busy mobile users. This requirement can be eliminated by choosing a layout that will give them direct access just in one glance. Zooming in and out will not even be necessary anymore.
- Navigating will be more convenient when touch screen users can just tap an icon to get the information that they are looking for. No more time-consuming browsing to navigate to other pages.
- The “Click-to-Call” feature of a mobile theme can enhance the surfer to make the call right away. This must be placed strategically right in the front page of the mobile site. A sure way of attracting callers to inquire about your business that can be turned into real customers immediately.
- Page optimization to not exceed 75kb is a recommended technique to allow browsers using devices with slow processors to access the mobile site in perfect view at once. This can further open your doors to the many potential customers who have no patience in waiting for the site to download.
- An interactive “Google map” will impress “people on the go”. This is very inviting for them to just drive to your location without thinking for much longer. As long as they have the guarantee that they will find their way to your establishment, people will just keep on coming in no time.
- Know that using “Flash” in any component on your mobile site can cause other users not to see it in their device. Remove the “dynamic” content instead and do Javascript simulation since most mobile devices are compatible with Javascript.
If you are not into web developing and designing, you may be asking how you could possibly make your existing website mobile friendly? The answer is very simple. Just find someone who can do it with all the considerations stated in this article. You do not have to be an expert yourself to make the most of your website. You just have to know how to ask the right questions to avail of the right service.
